Coaches rank OU hoops job >>> Tulsa World

What if the Burger Boy is a Blake Griffin? (not as good of course, but is a grounded individual).

I would agree that OU is a top 25 program and job over the last 30 years BUT not over the history of the program Bruce Drake did do some great things but had an overall record of 20-185 in his OU career. Also OU went from Drake's last NCAA squad in 1947 until that 179 under Bliss before returning to THE DANCE.People complain about a 2 year absence, what about 32 years?

I wait nervousley to see who the new guy is.My dream scenario would at this point bring Evans in and maybe bring Webster in as asst headcoach. Have no idea if it would work BUT I had no idea what would happen with Bliss,Tubbs,Sampson,Capel.

How many burger boys as OU ever had?

I don't know if Wayman was before the MCD AA teams or not, but I would guess him, Webster, Humphrey, Griffin, Gallon, and WW.

Now...how many of those are from the state of Oklahoma?

OU typically has better years when we have a good local talent (Adams, Tisdale, King, Griffin, etc.).

Most of the burger boys from Oklahoma go to play at KU, just like most of the Kansas hs football studs now come to OU.

very few basketball programs nationally limit themselves to just one region. I live in the southeast but use to live in oklahoma. I've seen ball players from oklahoma, texas, and the east coast. a coach would be very foolish not to recruit out east or anywhere for that matter that has good players. basketball is not like football in that recruiting is not as regionally based. if u don't believe me look at rosters across the country
I think that most who argue the Texas angle would agree with me when I saw the focus should be on this region. I would even include Arkansas, Kansas and even Missouri as this region for recruiting. Just because the focus is on a region doesn't mean limit the roster to just kids who are from Oklahoma and Texas.

The core of the roster should be built from the region. 6-9 kids should be from Oklahoma and Texas on the team. That is how you a build team here in my mind. Then you sprinkle in the select West and East coast kids around that. A guy like Fitzgerald is an example of the east coast kid you add in. Even somebody like Ray Willis, he didn't turn out but if you have a bunch of regional kids in place I don't think missing on him would've hurt as much.

There is enough talent in Texas and Oklahoma in the 2012 and 13 classes that the new coach should be able to start rebuilding the program with those kids as a base.

Wayman Tisdale
Jeff Webster
Ryan Humphrey
Drew Lavender
Blake Griffin
Willie Warren
Tiny Gallon
Tommy Mason-Griffin

I believe that is the list. I count 4 Oklahoma kids.

All of the kids not from Oklahoma either stayed 1 or 2 years max.

Only Humphrey left of the kids from Oklahoma and I think he would admit that was a huge mistake. He would have helped us on the 02 final 4 team...maybe we win it all.

If getting a burger boy means getting a Tiny, TMG or WW...no thanks.

Give me 5 Cade Davis's any day over that.

Honestly we should be recruiting on par with what Baylor has been doing the last few years. And I'm going to go all broken record again, but you draw a 300 mile circle around Norman and recruit the ****ens out of that area... throw San Antonio and Houston in the mix as well. Probably not going to draw a bunch of HS kids out of Kansas, but we can sure make a play at their JUCO's.
