Congratulations to Northern Iowa

I'd say. What an amazing accomplishment. They are to be congratulated.
It's great to see the amazing feat they did is nationally recognized by fans. :clap

A shimmering light in what was an otherwise putrid basketball season.

I can still see our boy nailing the three pointer that put a bullet in the hawks. BOOMER SOONER BABY!!!:clap

Oh, I wasn't having a laugh.

This was a team with an Aldrich equalizer. (certainly not suggesting he was as good as Aldrich)

This was a team with a guard that nobody on KU was ever going to be able to keep out of the paint.

This was a team that can light it up.

And more importantly, this was a team that played defense like mad men.

It was an upset, but not that shocking at the time, or now.

There were no great teams last year, so any "upset" in the tournament wasn't that big of deal. KU, Memphis, or UNC from 2008 all would have ran through this past year's NCAA tournament with ease.

Northern Iowa beat Kansas. Not that big of deal ay? Put the pipe down please. BOOMER SOONER BABY!!!:ez-laugh:

+1

Now that's funny. And sad at the same time. :facepalm

The fact that you are so sensitive when it comes to KU is pure comedy.

You should not be this insecure. You have a lot to be proud: (1) a fine institution of higher learning; (2) outstanding campus; and (3) an excellent basketball program.

Now look in the mirror, and say "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and gosh darn it people ...." Well, now were stretching it.

This isn't that complicated. A 1 seed lost to a 9 seed. A historical basketball power lost to a historical nonentity. A group of highly recruited players lost to a group of mid-major players. Do I need to go on? It has nothing to do with how evenly matched the actual teams were.

Well "it" is the award, so yea. Still doesn't make it a huge upset. There were much bigger upsets in multiple sports.

It's not complicated.

The historical implications make it a big upset. It is similar to the OU/BSU Fiesta Bowl. Boise was, arguably, as good or better than that OU team, but because it was a "mid-major" beating a historical power, it is considered one of the all time upsets.

And the award is Best Upset, not Biggest Upset.
