Could OU get Doc Sadler?

I mean, it's no secret that BCG has good relationships with Texas basketball insiders and AAU coaches. The question is what kind of wheeling and dealing comes with that. For instance, if BCG were hired at OU, I'm sure Jeff Webster would get a job offer in my opinion.

Stop right there, I can't take anymore

Anymore what?

Could Capel coach the KU team to where they are now? How about Texas? Xavier? Nebraska? etc, etc.

Texas and Kansas, yes. The question is can he take a Nebraska roster and upset Texas and Kansas?

He's mediocre. But of cousre striving for mediocrisy seems to be a goal by some. OU needs to get someone who can really recruit and recruit Texas.

I don't really think this is a fair comment. He inherited a much worse program at Nebraska than Capel inherited in Norman, and he has already passed us.

He was a winner at UTEP, and even advanced to the NCAA tourney and won a game or 2.

The guy coaches defense, and when you have a talent depleted roster like ours, if a new coach is hired, they should find someone who coaches defense because we would be able to compete right away.

Surely you don't believe that? The OU program was better than Texas when he took over and yet he's only beaten Texas 2 or 3 times in 11 tries.

That's a clown post.

Really? Do you really think Capel won't get another year?? This team is much better than last years team...and not near as talented. Capel obviously gets one more year to see what he can do.

He has had FIVE (5) years. We have already seen what he can do. It is not a secret. If he stays another 5 years, those 5 will be no better than the past 5 years. By then, attendance at home games will be in the hundreds.

I swear you people always look at the negative.

If it's only hundreds then we'll always be able to get a good seat!

Well smile! You can sit in any section you want to right now. It is already a done deal!

yeah, that is kinda sad. especially considering where we are coming from as a program.

I will say though...we shouldn't hafta hear crap ever again about "boring play" when we're defensive-oriented and IN every game. Maybe the last 5 years will be lessons to some of the pissers and moaners - defense travels and keeps you in games so don't berate stressing it above other things.

I know. Lord, how I miss some of those "ugly wins" on the road, that more than a few used to piss and moan about.

Of course "they" will be back if we ever do return to a defensive-oriented winning program. I would rather have "them" back, as I enjoyed racking up the wins and going dancin' almost every year.

I'm going to go ahead and throw Steve Lavin's name out there. He was unfairly fired at UCLA and it's taken him less than a year to turn St. John's around. He might be reluctant to leave the fertile recruiting ground that is NYC, but I bet we could pay way more than St. John's ever could.

Surely you jest. Lavin did so little with so much talent. His UCLA teams were very inconsistent and soft. There were only so many 40 point losses that the fanbase could endure. I don't think anyone outside of Lavin's immediate family was unhappy he was fired.

As for his current success at St. John's, I have to admit, I am completely surprised. Let's see him do it for a couple more years before he's considered at OU.

no dude, you're a clown. You think Capel would screw up with the talent that KU and ut haS? John Wooden couldnt coach this roster. Doc Sadler, Mike Anderson, hell, even Eddie an d Kelvin would be in the same boat. Some of you guys hatred for Capel clouds reality. The reality is he has recruited poorly. He mortgaged the farm for some malcontents and he had to scramble to get hand me downs. The second best player in this class was ready to sign with southern nazerene.

So when you blame Capel or want him fired, atleast fire him for the right reasons, poor player evaluation and recruiting. This bunch couldnt win the summit.

There have been many worse
See Capel Coach of the Year thread

"They" can't be back if " they" never left...... Can't you see that we have a nucleus of fans that just like to complain?? I mean come on, these are the same people who scream fire every football coach that we have on a weekly basis. The same ones who complained about KS, complained about Tubbs, etc.

Somewhere Kelvin is laughing at the whole lot of message board posters who are crying for a defensive oriented coach who will " just get us to the dance". That is exactly what the cry AGAINST KS was.

I love OU, but we have some of the most bi-polar fans in the nation, IMO.....

:clap:clap:clap

Don't worry DM, it will be the same stuff. New coach, tons of hope, spirit, and expectation, and once 2 or 3 yrs go by with no Nat'l. Title, they will begin to call for his head. Its the way our fanbase works. BIPOLAR fans across the board. I mean come on, some of these guys wanted to fire Stoops last yr after he lost 1/2 of a roster to the draft/graduation/injuries. That right there tells me all that I need to know about the brilliant fans who DESERVE a better product by gawd!!!!!!:ez-laugh::ez-laugh:

The win over Texas was impressive but as I pointed out a few weeks back, NU's OOC schedule was the easiest in the conference and by a wide margin.

LOL at this thread.

It's like having a beautiful girl hit on you where you are in a horrible marriage

Thats just my opinion. I think Capel doesnt have a clear recruiting plan where as bcg is gonna work all his texas and OK connections.
