Cousins shot

Wow! Like WT, I thought this thread was about his jump shot. No way did I expect anything like this.

Thank God it wasn't worse! I shudder to think about how bad it could have been. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Isaiah!!!

"A top NBA talent??" Wow, thats the first I've heard of him being referred to as that. I hope they are right!

Sounds like he got very lucky to be around friends when he was shot and to miss anything vital.

Holy crap. Really glad he's ok.
Reminds me of when Frank Alexander and I think Ray Willis were stabbed.

Just saw this on ESPN! Had ignored this thread thinking it was about his jump shot. lol

Lucky he is ok. Another daily story of an imbecile with a gun.

And the operative word here should be imbecile, not gun.

That guy most likely didn't "legally" obtain that gun.

True. If I ruled the world, any crime committed while in possession of a gun, legal or not, would earn you 20 years added on to whatever your sentence was and it would stay at 20 years - no time off for good behavior.

If the imbecile hadn't had a gun, it wouldn't be a story.

And no one but an imbecile would be firing a gun at other people on a public street. The imbecile – not some inanimate object – was wholly responsible for this incident.

I am not a criminal attorney (Coolm is) but I am pretty sure that is the law in most states. I don't know about 20 years but I believe a crime becomes a much more serious offense if a gun is possessed while the crime is committed.

Exactly.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

That is your Second Amendment. It doesn't say "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms for purposes of maintaining a Militia shall not be infringed". Rather it lists but one reason that our Government may not infringe our right to keep and bear arms. The words mean what they say. Keep means I may own weapons. Bear means I may brandish or carry weapons. Arms means weapons and encompasses a lot more than hunting rifles. Rifles, cannons, pistols, swords, etc. were all in existence at the time the Founders chose to use the word Arms. If they meant hunting rifles, they would have said hunting rifles. These were highly intelligent men. They debated the language and were precise with their words.

Glad Isiah is going to be ok. We really dodged a bullet on that one! Oh wait...

Since guns are hard to legally obtain in New York, particularly if you are in a gang in New York, this is probably true.

Which is irrelevant to me. There's a reason the UK, Australia, and Japan have murder and gun violence rates that are microscopic compared to ours.

Murder/violence all over the world is way down. US it's at it's lowest in over 60 years.

You are the lawyer. Not me. Neither one of us is entrusted to interpret the constitution. That is the Supreme Courts job. It has certainly been ruled legal to infringe on the peoples right to certain kinds of arms. No automatic weapons. Nothing 50 caliber or above. No grenades or grenade or rocket launchers. No flame throwers. Restrictions on felons, ect. and background checks. Restrictions on guns in federal building and other locations.

The Supreme Court has ruled that the people have a right to a hand gun in their home. Period. Open carry, concealed carry, and all the other NRA sponsored crap is a privilege granted by society.

Before some one gives me the lecture, understand, I'm a gun owner. I have a carry permit. I usually have one close by. Also understand this. The proliferation of guns in this country is a cancer on our society. I believe that every eligible person should have access to a gun. Not to protect themselves from the criminal element. But, more so, from the gun nuts that are currently controlling the gun debate.

Of course that is just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Yep. CNN and Fox News would make it seem like our streets are littered with psychopath beta virgins who murder people every day. Nah, they just exploiting death. As Knight once said, journalism is about one or two steps away from prostitution.
