So what did you want the cops to do in this blake case? All tackle him and wrestle him to the ground?

How do you know he wouldn't die anyways from strain ala eric garner?

Yes.

Eric Garner was choked out from behind while not being aggressive, then kept being choked while cuffs were on him & an officer put his knee & weight on his head.

there was a case here in OKC recently where a black man died from getting tackled when he was running from the police. There was a huge outcry...what should they have done in this case?

And the latest videos do show that Blake had a knife in his hands while walking away from cops

If he is tackled and gets injured or dies, would you shield the cops from culpability (absent a choke hold)?

Haven't seen the video on OKC, but if he ran and they simply tackled him I don't see the problem. How did he die just from being tackled?

Ok why did they let him get away from them in the beginning?

It didn't seem like he deserved any of that, but a simple take down by 4 cops shouldn't have been hard. The choke hold & full weight to the head were incredibly unnecessary and a man died because of it.

Blake didnt deserve being tackled? I'm confused, i thought thats what you said they should have done

The black men who kill other black men are going to jail for the rest of their lives.

All of them? There are probably more black on black murders in Chicago in any given month that go unsolved than there are unjustified police on black killings, regardless of outcome (charges or not).

Probably b/c they were treating him with kid gloves and giving him a chance to live and do the right thing. Isn't that what you want them to do? This is the result when that doesn't work.

Best comment i've seen regarding the 17 year old....

If he has taught us one thing, it is that it is impossible to shoot into a group of peaceful protesters and not hit a pedophile

If I may.... let's be sure not to make the issue 100% about the ultimate price, which is a killing. That is far from their only beef. It is the worst scenario, for sure, but not the only one... The allegations also include:

  1. Mistreatment by the police
  2. Targeting by the police
  3. Unfair sentencing in the system
  4. Unfair bail practices that lock up millions of non-violent people
  5. Over-policing
  6. Brutality (which includes beatings, physical violence, etc but not life threatening)

It's a common tactic to take a large issue and try to boil it all the down into a specific scenario. You guys have taken this all the way to the amount of people who are black, who didn't have a gun or knife, that were shot, and killed, by a white police officer. You've, intentionally or not, qualified it down to make it sound like it's a small issue. It's not, but that seems to be the path we are going.

The excuses that are made are, quite honestly, pretty disturbing as well. Eric Garner was flat out murdered by the cops. This guy was shot 7 times in the back at point blank range.

There is also racist violence against blacks that isn't done by the police, like Ahmaud Arbury. Some of you guys went every which way to defend two guys who chased him down in their truck, with confederate flags, ran him over, murdered him in the street, and called him a "ni$$er" over his body... Some of you defended those guys tooth and nail.

The black community flat out has to put up with a lot, its a big issue, that you guys are trying to turn into a small one.

Just my two cents.

Good lord. Of course the ones that don’t get solved don’t go to jail.

I don't think many here would disagree with most of your list.
I make it about the killings because that is what sparks the riots and it is what is talked about the most. I've always said that what they should be more upset about is the legal system. There is a lot to be improved upon.

My brother and his friends had a gun pulled on them when they were kids TPing a house late at night. They were all white.

Cops in general abuse power regardless of color.

But I won't back down from those trying to fix injustice with more injustice. I won't look at things emotionally. I'll take the facts just like the courts do. If a cop abused their power and caused a death, I will be the first one to call for justice.

Everyone has been saying he is a hardened criminal & the police believed violence would be involved so the were on edge. So why did they use kid gloves?
