Darrell Williams charged with rape

It's a personal conduct issue relating to the team. How the constitution comes into play is beyond me.

This. Colston is 100% right on this one. I'm not sure how the lawyer of the board can argue against this. You sign all kinds of personal conduct agreements when you sign on to play big-time athletics. There's no way the school would be held up by suspending this guy, unless they're stupid enough not to "lawyer up" with their initial paperwork.

Is he #25? The guy I was complaining about in the game thread. He was getting away with a push in the back every time on offense and at one point pushed Blair about five feet across the floor. The guy was doing his best Marshall Moses impersonation and should have fouled out in the first 10 minutes of the game.

Just by watching him act like an ass on the court I knew he was up to no good. All it took was me watching him play one basketball game and I knew what type of person he was.

(yes I'm kidding before everyone cries)

it's hard to answer when we're not even arguing at the same level. This argument has been fought before concerning little league teams, Jr high and HS teams, and college teams - I have just only been in District Court over it on the first two levels. The issue of being enjoined is always a potential remedy for the potentially aggrieved.

Please show me an example of an injunction not allowing the school to play a basketball game in the case of formal FELONY charges and a school suspension.

I am so glad Ford and OSU looked the other way and let a guy play that was going to be charged with several rape/sexual assault charges 2 days later.

Just shows Ford has one foot in the trailer park. A $400 suit and orange tie can't mask the horrid decision to look the other way this weekend.

Ford is such a stand up guy he hid from the conference call today. Biggest week of the year so far they beat ranked MU and a hot OU team and the dude is hiding.

Might be good to show some proof that Ford looked the other way. Sounds to me like he took pretty swift action once charges were filed. Most people fin this thread are being pretty level headed and want justice for the girls or if he is innocent, the player. The Duke Lacrosse players have been mentioned a couple of times. We all want justice, we just need to make sure that it is achieved in the correct method.

A few are using it to take a swipe at OSU or to excuse a close close in a Bedlam game. Other than the fact that he is a public figure it has little to do with basketball.

No. A DA will file charges only after he/she has carefully weighed evidence gathered in a police investigation. No DA in his/her right mind would file charges when there's NO evidence that a crime has been committed.

LOL

if you pull THIS leg I play Jingle Bells

oh, and in response to the "why does this happen more in stoolwater" comment. It doesn't. They just don't cover it up/gag it up as well.

I agree. But does that include playing basketball? I don't think it does.

No I think it was handled correctly. Charges were filed this morning and he was suspended this afternoon. He'll have time to play basketball after this is all over if he is proven innocent.

Oh snap.

Not taking a swipe at anyone. Just pointing out the fact your coach and AD let the student athlete play this weekend and your coach doesn't want to face the music so he hid today. These turn yourself in agreements take several days to finalize. Your problem not ours. I could care less about the win/loss, no guarrantee OU would win with him off the floor. You are never going to beat a team that shoots twice as many free throws and makes them.

I've learned one thing from the Duke LAX Team and thats he's innocent until they prove him guilty in a court.

Guilt occurs once the crime is committed and not when an individual cloaked in a robe says it is so.

But the only difference between suspending him now and sometime last week is the public filing of charges and arraignment. As I have argued previously, Williams definitely knew this was coming last week and almost certainly Ford knew it was coming. Once Ford knew the charges would be filed he is in the same position ethically and morally as he is today. The actual filing of the charges just prevents him from ignoring the situation any longer.

I have no problem with the kid playing until he is charged. This is America, even in Stillwater. Why should he have been suspended before he is charged? What if he was never charged, should he be suspended anyway?

That's all I'm saying. I doubt Travis Ford was allowed entrance into the DAs inner sanctum to know what he was thinking and when Williams would be charged. DAs are funny that way.

THIS-- you do not miss the biggest conference call of your year for a "meeting" unless the meeting was to discuss how to respond to something you already knew about/

Maybe Darell Williams, Perrish Cox, and Chris Collins should all go hangout together.

with Barry Switzers boys from Bud Wilkinson hall.

That would be like the OSU guys hanging out with their dads. What I'm trying to say is They weren't born during the incidents that you're trying to illustrate. What I'm saying is that was 24 years ago, meaning that it's a little lame to take shots at something from such a long time ago.
