Darrell Williams charged with rape

But the only difference between suspending him now and sometime last week is the public filing of charges and arraignment. As I have argued previously, Williams definitely knew this was coming last week and almost certainly Ford knew it was coming. Once Ford knew the charges would be filed he is in the same position ethically and morally as he is today. The actual filing of the charges just prevents him from ignoring the situation any longer.

I think this is what most people find funny. Maybe there is nothing to it, but timing seems strange.

It's all well and good to say that he shouldn't have been suspended before charges were filed. I think it is still wrong to let him play, if you know the charges are going to filed and if you know that there is something to the story. I don't know what Ford knows, but I bet he knows enough to know whether or not Williams did something wrong. The burden of proof is substantially lower when you are talking about whether a kid gets to play, as opposed to whether or not he is going to prison.

Darrell Williams and Matt Pilgrim love RayPenn.

University of Washington is dealing with this right now with one of their players...luckily for them, the athlete's name has not been released to the media.

venoy overton.

some of you have a touching faith in our legal system. and, i guess, in the veracity of women.

Appreciate the update sys, hadn't heard anything in a week or so. I know they kept it under wraps for a while.

no, you were right, it hasn't been released to the media. it's just all over the internet/message boards, etc.

A guy is supposed to be treated like a leper for something he is pleading not guilty too?

Why are you aggies responding? Its just going to upset you further than you already are with this situation.

Just for arguments sake, how would you feel if you went to the courthouse to support the guy and he's eventually found guilty?...

I have no clue how I'd feel, but if a guy was a close friend and I truly believed what he/she said then I would probably support them. As long as they weren't turning their self in really early in the morning.

In response to BT, I'm not upset in the slightest. I have never met Darrell Williams in my life and my only interest in him at all is that he happens to play basketball at Oklahoma State. The only reason I would actually be upset is if the victim or perpetrator was family or somebody that I knew, and thankfully in this case it was neither.

As far as being upset as a fan goes: Do you know how many times OSU fans have had the rug pulled out from underneath them? I'm only 21, and Darrell Williams getting suspended/kicked off the team for (allegedly) committing a heinous crime isn't even a blip on my 'OSU frustration' radar. I'm already numb to this stuff.

People never believe me when I tell them that I don't get mad or upset about sports, but I don't! Of course, I can't speak for any of my OSU brethren about their levels of upsetedness.

Hey! The guy looks like him! But, it's 100% because of the pencil thin mustache that Capel was rocking for a while. Does he still have it?

Not quite as pencil thin as it once was, but yeah, he has still got it. I will grant that you have a rapist wit in making that comparison (had to keep it thread relevant for Darrell).

PS Tell Hulsley to eat a turd for me on the Ostate hoops board.

The case against Williams seems a little flimsy.

It sounds nastier and more criminal to charge "rape by instrumentation" than "unconsensual diddling." Apparently "stealing third base" can get you ten years. Even at a party where there were probably a half dozen couples feeling each other up.

If there were a few witnesses and lots of protesting or loud screaming it wouldn't have taken two months to file charges. If Williams held his hand over her mouth to prevent screaming, then it's closer to rape. If not, the case becomes shaky.

It may be a case of "stealing third base" by a much, much larger than expected finger. Williams will be kicked off the team. He may be a serial assaulter but I doubt they make this case stick.
