Dean Blevins interviews Trae Young

No way in hell he goes to OU, it's KU all the way. He'll be afraid to go out of the box and look at the future.

People said the same thing about Wayman. He did what nobody thought he would do and built this whole program with Billy.

:eek:ldwt356:

IF he chooses someone else Cox here will say look I told you so. but thats fictional that we've stopped recruiting him.

Even if they feel they are on the outside looking in, decision should be this month. Doesnt make sense.

I don't care about being right. I want the kid as much as anyone. It's a circle jerk with dad though. Don't know if he would have went to OU anyway but pretty sure ship has sailed.

I've said dad was the issue all along. I agree with that. If it were up to the kid. He's already would have signed.

I think decision comes in the next week maybe 2. Sadly I think KU wins out. Hope Im wrong.

I understand the draw to ku...heck, if I was a bball kid...

If he really is nba material, I don't see big difference between OU and KU...they both get on TV, the scouts know about him..yeah, KU is overall a better program, but these days he'll still get exposure.

Hope we can pull him in...team would be really good next year (or should!)

Going to OU sure didn't hurt BG's NBA chances. It probably helped Buddy's chances because at KU he would have sat the bench for a few years. So, if Trae comes to OU he will be the man from day 1. At KU he will be behind Graham and a few others. So, to me, the decision seems pretty easy.

Excellent points, guys! I have no idea what Trae Young is going to do? I can see why a kid like him is attracted to what they see as the "bright lights" at a school like KU.

But the lights of college basketball couldn't have shined any brighter on any player last year than they did on Buddy Hield. He drew huge crowds everywhere he went. The fans were drawn to his personality and his skills as a basketball player. They loved him, applauding and ewing and awing his ability to score and make shots from behind the arc. KU fans gave him a standing ovation after the triple overtime game in Lawrence last year.

It can be that way for Trae if that's what he wants to do.

To not choose OU at this point, after all the time and resources OU put into his recruitment, would be a slap in the face. It was between OU and UK and when UK signed two guys he rekindled the KU relationship. I won't cry foul at this point, but it looks like the writing is on the wall.

I've never seen KU fans cheer for OU in basketball the way they did at the Big 12 tourney last year vs WV.

Earlier you said OU had turned away some point guards waiting for Young. Have those kids already signed somewhere else?

both signed early. Price of dealing with 5 stars. Hope he chooses what he wants...

I think Tra is a must get for both Lon and the program.

Without Trae, Lon's legacy is not looking as bright.

Lol. You're kidding right?

absolutely not. The kid is going to school less than 40 miles from the University.

Everyone loved Capel when Blake Griffin was here. We won a lot of games and it was fun to watch.
Ultimately Capel could not figure out how to win once Blake left

the same goes for Kruger (although its a small sample set). Kruger did great with Buddy, won a lot of games and was fun to watch.
Kruger hasn't proven he can win without buddy (time will tell). This year (first year after buddy) Kruger in my opinion has not done a great job and the product on the floor has been terrible as a whole.

I think Trae can turn that around. That's why I think he is a must get.

Now, maybe we have another player on the team, or currently signed to come in, that can be that "trae young or buddy" player.

For capel, the year after Blake left, he had a winning percentage of 42%

Right now, for this year, the year after Buddy Kruger's winning percentage is 43%

So Krugers winning percentage is likely to end up much worse than Capel's post blake griffin year.
