Dean Blevins interviews Trae Young

.......

I just feel like if Trae really wanted to come here he woulda comitted long ago... the fact that he's stringing us along or riding it out is not good news for us...

Looking on the bright side, Trae has also not committed to the other schools. As far as I know, he has been done making official and unofficial visits for some time, yet he is apparently still trying to make up his mind.

There can be no doubt that Trae will get more minutes as a freshman at Oklahoma. He also knows everything there is to know about Oklahoma basketball. He knows that Buddy was the national play-of-the-year, so an Oklahoma player can be a national star.

It is a tough decision. I would love to follow his career and his development at Oklahoma.

I havent heard any names, but you know LK isnt sitting on his hands there is always a plan.

I don't see the PG "answer" for next season is on our roster now. I've always felt PG is the most important position on the team in college ball, so it's important for us to have an above average player.

They don't have to be a scorer (e.g. Quannas White) but they have to run the offense and make everyone else better. They have to have basketball smarts. Woodard is no speed demon but he's a smart, crafty player.

At this current point I agree and that's disappointing. At one maybe two game stretch I thought it was Shepherd. He was running the offense well, making great passes, hitting 3s and midrange shots. Handling the ball. But he appears to have lost alot of confidence. It's a shame too because he appears to have a lot of tools. But he just may not have the intangibles needed. Who knows, maybe he can gain some strength and confidence. He needs to play alot though, from here on out this season if we're going to rely on him.

The last few weeks the crystal ball predictions have been going Kansas' way, but saw this morning that we just picked up another prediction. Not sure how much these predictions hold weight, but seems like good news!

I have no clue what Trae will do, but if he was at all bothered by the seven-game skid, the last two games -- especially last night's -- should bolster our cause to some degree.

One thing I read said they still like OU's position with Trae, and that Self is trying to get him to take an unofficial as one last effort to get him to change his mind. Take that for what it's worth.

That is true, and I am hoping that my feelings are all wrong :)
I too would love for him both to be a sooner and a legacy for us in the NBA!

He said in that interview that he was suppose to take that unofficial during ice storm crap that went down. Then he mentioned that he may go early February. hope you're right. I've been optimistic the whole time, starting to doubt it.

Joe DuVall over on SoonerScoop puts out a "Hoops Scoop" every so often, and published one today. I want to be careful and not reveal premium information...... Joe admits nobody really knows where Trae is going, but Joe remains optimistic and gives his reasons why. He also had a list,of potential recruits for 2018 and 2019. The one that interested me is the Quentin Grimes kid that plays in The Woodlands (College Park). I live close by and need to go watch him some evening.

That's basically what Joe DuVall is saying. Reading between the lines with crimson tinted glasses, it says KU thinks Trae is favoring OU and wants to get him back there in an effort to change his mind. I'm not sure I buy the logic.....

Coach I think some of the things you are hearing are natural pessimism OU fans/insiders have going up against Kansas and Kentucky for a 5 star superstar, no matter where he's from. And I get that to some extent.

If he doesn't visit Kansas again, he will commit to OU

Here's hoping he doesn't visit KU again!

I'll also add that 247Sports has Quentin Grimes as a strong lean (83%) to KU. He's a 2008 signee now. But the Jayhawks will be in good shape until he gets there if Trae picks OU.

wow...2008? ku going WAY BACK!~ is that even legal? guess ku can do what they want....

lol...just messin with ya:woot

Read yesterday that Trae is scheduled to go to Lawrence on an unofficial the first or second week of February.

Obviously I'm biased..as prob most on here...we'd ALL love to have the chance to play for OU in some capacity...maybe some did.

BUT, if I'm a bball guy...man I HATE to say this...if you've never been to a game there...but AFH is a awesome place to play. Sell-outs, you're a star...just like OU football. I went years back when we had Bookout, Taj...place was rockin..the history is tops.

I can totally see him going there. I prob would if #1 bball was my sport #2 I wasn't such an OU homer :woot
