Sounds like he could be just the defensive presence OU needs at the post position to go with MBaye, Osby and Fitz.

The more I read about this kid, the more I hope Lon gets him.

Be a Sooner, DJ!

I'm not doing a good job keeping up with our scholarship numbers. Can we get him and Spangler?

Yes.

Blair's departure gives us two ships to work with, so if our coaches choose to use them, we can take Bennett and Spangler, and call it a day with the 2012 class.

6'9, athletic with a 7-5 wingspan who plays above the rim and can throw it down sounds like a guy i would like to see us get. Been awhile since we've had a guy like that, that can defend and contend/alter/swat some shots would be certainly be nice.
We've already received a commitment from one DJ earlier today from DE DJ Ward from Lawton, the number 1 player in the state. Sooo...I say let's get another commitment from a player with the same initials and call it a day/class along with Spangler. Come on down, DJ!

Here is a pic from team website that helps show how long his arms are. Image is kind of distorted colorwise cause it had a copyright, so don't tell on me haha

I hope his anticipation and footwork match his length. If so he should be a good basket enforcer.

Don't know about his offense but he will be a much better defender than Fitz.

What I believe Bennett will be able to do from day one is be a shot blocker and good on the glass. Hopefully, he can come in and contribute right away. He needs to bulk up a little for big 12 ball, but is an athletic and good looking player from all i've read.

Does anybody have his final stats from this year? I know he only averaged around 7 points, and I think he only averaged about 4 rebounds per game. Not everybody that is big, or big and athletic is a good basketball player/rebounder. I haven't seen Bennett play, but I think some people are predicting things based on his size alone. Because his stats don't seem to support him doing much for us next year.

So I'm asking, does anybody have a link to his final stats, blocked shots included?

I'm just forming an opinion based on article's and stuff I've read about the guy. Of course being a big doesn't mean one is athletic and/or a good rebounder. Sorry if i misled you. From stuff I've read, he led a national JUCO power at Indian Hills C.C. that was loaded and a very balanced team. From someone who saw him play at Council Bluffs in the post-season...that he was easily the best big in that game, better than fellow teammate and 2013 4-star Jameel McCay. But it was just one game and his opinion, based on the one game he watched. From what I've read about him is that he's a pretty good looking player in addition to being athletic. I've no idea if true, but hopefully he is good enough that he can come in contribute early with shot blocking and rebounding. If he can provide those two things alone early, I'm happy. pleased. Read where he averaged 9 and 6 at Indian Hills on the season. Didn't have great numbers by any means, but alos sounds like he clicked late and stepped up once post-season play started. Hopefully, he'll be a nice option off the bench this coming year and that he transitions fairly qucikly to D1.
