Just said it at press conference. That settles that.

I think it is a smart move. The guy looked legit in the scrimmage - just needs some weight.

I think Romero, Fitz, and Amath can shoulder the vast majority of the load in the post with Neal, Arent and Cam giving spot minutes.

I think Tyler Neal and Cam putting on weight helped make this decision.

Interesting. Had heard they thought he would be wasting a year this season getting less than 10 minutes a game as the second big off the bench after Fitz, and could play a bigger role the next two seasons. With some added weight he's going to be a nice player. But we all saw how that worked with Juan Pattillo. So we'll see.

That's kind of what it sounds like...hopefully DJ does better with his free time than Juanyea did.

With the redshirt he might be our starting center for two straight seasons. I liked what I saw from Bennett in the scrimmage he can use his redshirt year like Osby/M'baye did I think it's a good move.

Coach Henson works hard with the redshirting/transfer guys and does a great job with them.

I think DJ could get a lot better if he works at it and have a chance to compete with Spangler for a starting gig next year alongside M'baye.

I guess he thinks he can work himself into the 2nd or 3rd big man minutes going forward? Because I think he definitely could have worked himself in front of Arent this year. And he'll play next year, regardless. Guess it comes down to how much time he'll get in 2014-2015. Too early to tell, but I'm certainly hopeful we'll have two or three better bigs on campus by then.

It will be interesting to see what Elliott and Hamilton do this year at the JUCO level as well. I plan on following their stats.

I think this group of coaches develop players much better than the last.

Unlike a lot of juco stiffs we have seen at OU in the past few years, Bennett has tons of potential. I really liked what I saw in the scimmage on Saturday.

In all honesty I think he may be ahead of Arent or Neal in his development right now. A redshirt year and some off-season work with a big man specialist next sumer, could do wonders for his game, not to mention twelve more months to get bigger and stronger.

This is a good move.

Agree with everyone. He's got length, athleticism, and potential. If he attacks this year off the right way, he might have a real chance to start next season with Spangler.

The other part of this, if I'm not reading too much into it, is they are comfortable with our other options inside, namely Arent and Neal.

if only Longar had been able to redshirt! would have been a special player!

I occasionally think about what kind of damage a front court of Damion James at the 3, Blake at the 4, and Longar at the 5 could have done...
