DJ Bennett WILL redshirt per Lon

well if your just looking to punish yourself you gotta include scottie reynolds in that hypo! yikes, would have been crazy

I think OU could have won a championship if Damion James and Scottie Reynolds had come to OU.

PG Reynolds
SG WW
SF James

C BG

Good look stopping that in college. Crocker, AJ, Pattillo and Wright all come off the bench. I recognize that North Carolina was really good but James and Reynolds would have been huge additions to that team.

How about Longar at C and T Griff as the 6th man. Oh my! We're going to have to stop...

some much hurt.... hell i would have loved to see another year of patillo! I was in love with his potential.. sad how we'll never know. sigh Kruger better get us going asap i miss real OU basketball!!!

Another redshirt, I think I see a trend. It may not make a star out of a starter or a starter out of a sub but it makes a better program.

I love the decision because the spot minutes IMO will do little for him and it allows us to use arent in that situation so his scholarship was not a total waste. Arent was a miss by Kruger but he was scrambling for a big body do can't really fault him

Arent will do just fine in the role they need him to fill. Arent's ability to do just fine in the roll he is needed for is one of the things that afforded the staff the luxury of redshirting Bennett.

I totally agree. The role is very minimal. Less than the role he played last year. Osby, M'Baye and Fitzgerald are getting all of the minutes. Neal will get more minutes than Arent (I think). There just are not any minutes for Bennett or Arent. Think back to Taj Gray, Kevin Bookout and Longar. Longar practically never played and everyone (except me - I though he was going to be fine because the two games he did get real minutes he produced) thought he sucked. It turns out he didn't play because Bookout and Gray were better and there just weren't many minutes for him. This year we have 3 guys that are better than Arent (and Neal who averaged more minutes than Arent). He is looking at 3-5 minutes in emergency situations and 0 minutes on several nights.

At the very least OU likely has another Final 4 appearance. That squad would've been a 1 seed, and my guess would've been the #2 seed overall, meaning OU doesn't see UNC until the Final. I do doubt OU gets Pattillo if they have James, but I'd take that trade 8 days a week.

Kruger is building for the future. Although I would like to see him on the team this year it does make better sense to redshirt him.

We don't get WW with Reynolds on campus. I think it's also tougher to get Blake.

I think we would have picked up Blake. Taylor made some noises about playing time after his freshman year but he was a lock to start the next season and it is hard to leave the area and walk away from starting. Also his father seemed to be a reasonable force and was encouraging him to be more patient.

As I recall Taylor's play as a freshman, Kelvin probably had a better idea than Taylor about how much he should play.

Also there was no dominant big man in Kelvin's last class that didn't arrive and so Blake was also looking at a starting role as a freshman. Of course he was looking at a starting role anywhere he went.

I said maybe no on Blake b/c I remember a lot of chatter from him when he signed about wanting to be the guy that turned our program back around, and stuff like that. At least, I seem to remember that. If Kelvin's last class doesn't fall apart, I a) wonder if Taylor sticks around, and b) wonder if Blake still sees OU as some kind of reclamation project.

We might have still gotten him, I'm certainly not saying we definitely wouldn't have, but I think it'd have been a tougher sell.
