Based off the bickering of the schedule (mostly fair), I wanted to look a little more into East Tex A&M at least who else they have played or are going to play.

I was a little surprised with who else had/has them on their schedule:

@ Iowa- L 67-89
@ #13 Tex A&M- L 55-87
@ #2 Uconn - Tonight
@ Oklahoma- 11/21
@ South Florida- 12/21

It's sad but entirely predictable that our schedule is already tanking our metrics. We have lost 10-15 spots since the start of the season despite three relatively easy wins. Meanwhile, check out St. John's schedule -- another team barely left out last season, and they went out and put together a very solid schedule. Currently in the midst of a stretch where 5 of 6 games are against teams likely to make the tourney or be in the mix.

Meantime, KU hosts another game tonight against the type of team we should be playing (mid 100s).

It sucks but it’s the reality of the situation. The Providence game is huge. They have to win that game just so they play some better teams on the winners side of the bracket.

The SEC is strong but is it strong enough to overcome the bad OOC schedule? 20 wins didn’t do it last year in the Big 12.

Yep, in a way, Providence feels like must win. If we lose that one, it is entirely possible we will go through the entire noncon without facing a tourney team. Michigan and Georgia Tech will/may be in the mix, but we really need that Providence game.

I know what you’re saying but I’ve already decided we just have to win several of those games but we’re not going to win all of them. As usual with Moser it will come down to conference play where we always seem to die. Will the SEC be any easier on him than the Big 12? I have my doubts.

I feel like we will have a competitive team as we usually do but one that is similar to the past few, with too many potential brain farts from both players and coach. But we have to somehow clear more hurdles in conference play. I am hoping for some improvement from what I’ve seen so far and a few pleasant surprises. For starters, how about not getting swept by Texas for the umpteenth season in a row? I don’t see it right now but still have small hope as we get everyone back and with multiple games under their belts. Moore has to stay healthy and meet/exceed expectations or we are doomed to mediocrity.

We could have scheduled better in the early portion of the schedule. Fortunately, it picks up a bit starting next week. We need to win a couple of them, so we’re not as dependent on conference play for tourney aspirations.
