The Tubbs years had some amazing athletes who were just OK basketball players. Shawn Clark at the time we signed him, had one of the highest vertical jumps in the nation. Another very average player, but high flyer was Don Gandy. Calvin Pierce was very athletic for a power forward. Those are just 3 I remember because of their reputation as high flying dunkers....For you younsters, Ebi was a triple plus athlete along the lines of a Jordan or Bryant (not saying he was that good) type wing. Off topic, but we had another plus plus athlete I thought was going to be a superstar that played at OU before Ebi. His name was Angelo Hamilton. How, I don't know, but he chose us over Duke (if I remember correctly). He turned out to be a good player but never approached the production we all thought he would. BTW, he played for Tubbs.
For my money, Ebi, Angelo and Fears may be the best perimeter athletes to have played at OU. Probably forgetting some players though.

I believe Gandy was a Juco guy. He wore goggles and I remember my Dad saying how odd looking he was, lol.... He never did anything significant, but everyone raved about his dunks and alley-oops during practice. I'm not even sure he completed a full season. If he did, it was probably his only season. Pretty sure he wore #42. I promise I'm not crazy...I don't know who Gandy was, but you nailed it with Clark and Pierce - BOTH who came to OU the same year Wayman did. I believe Clark had the second highest vertical in college hoops...forgot why he didn't make it to the finish line at OU.
Thank you!! Looking at Soonerstats, he played in 13 games in 83, and 15 in 84. Like I said, he didn't contribute much, but he did have a couple of high flying dunks that I remember.I remember the name Don Gandy but not much else.
he's on the 83, 84 rosters.

P.S. any of you who don't know about Sooner stats.com.....learn up. Such a great resource Sooner fans are lucky to have.
I hear you!! I'm sure us old Sooners have forgotten a few over the years. Not even sure why I remembered Gandy. I was a youngster and I remember my Dad being excited about him after listening to Tubbs talk about him on KTOK radio station one Friday evening. Tubbs talked about how good of an athlete he was.Yeah, who is gandy? Couldn’t have played at ou. I have followed the team since before bliss.
Said I would forget some guys, clark and pierce. Clark could fly. Thinking about it it would probably be between clark and angelo for highest flyer. Any other suggestions? Again i am probably forgetting someone
