After coming out on fire, the Norman North girls fell apart in the second and third quarters to lose 47-34 to No. 6 Edmond Santa Fe Friday at North Gym.

The Timberwolves (10-10) went up 10-5 in the first quarter but then were outscored 30-4 by the Wolves (16-3) before closing out the game strong. Part of the problem was a lack of offensive rebounding after the first quarter. The T-Wolves controlled the boards early, but relaxed after taking an early lead. The Wolves made them pay.

“Against a team that is that athletic, you use up so much energy guarding, rebounding (and) running the floor, so sometimes (players) take a break and don’t go as hard to the glass,” North coach Rory Hamilton said. “We didn’t shoot free throws well. We didn’t shoot well tonight. But to still be somewhat in the game there in the second half and the fourth quarter, they never gave up. They showed tremendous resiliency.”
