Florida is a much higher rated school, has a better basketball program, and they have a young coach who has gone 29-8, 27-9, 21-15, and 27-9 in his last 4 years of coaching, and is coming off an Elite 8 appearance.

Don't know much about Gainesville vs Norman, but I assume Gainesville is pretty nice too.

He just got his degree from rice. I don't think he is worried about his education since he could stay home and begin his masters at a much better school if he wanted to.

Ou's hoops program is historically better than Florida. Florida has had one good coach and that's about it. Ou went to the final four just two years ago. Ou has a familiar coach on staff. I know he doesn't recruit enough jucos for your taste, but Lon Kruger is a much better coach than florida's current coach.

disagree a bit: Norm Sloan, Lon Kruger, Billy Donovan all had success at UF. 3 good coaches.

Sloan may be more famous for his years at NC State (NCAA champs in 1973-74).....but still a good coach that coached at UF (twice as a matter of fact).

i prefer OU's history to UF but UF has been one of the better teams in the SEC.

That's fair. I obviously brain farted and forgot about Lon's final four there, too.

I think it was almost exactly one year ago?

2 national titles to none. OU loves that argument in football, but doesn't in basketball? Ok...

This. Their 2 NCs are way different than that school's up in Stillwater.

I don't think it comes down to who has the better tradition nor will it come down to who he believes is the better city / state. It will come down to these three things:

1) Which team has the better chance to play deeper into March.

2) Who offers him the best opportunity for playing time.

3) Which coaching staff he is the most comfortable around.

I believe #2 is a wash, #3 is an OU advantage, and #1 is a slight advantage to Florida. In other words, it's a toss-up.

I don't think anyone would deny the importance of a national title, much less two. But both were won by the same team, basically. They returned all five starters after winning the first one. Obviously a great accomplishment, still, but it doesn't suggest continuing excellence the way two titles, say, five years apart might.

And OU's football tradition is not built entirely on national titles, but also on consistency. I don't think national titles are the be-all, end-all for judging any program, in any sport (though I'd give my left pinky for OU to have won one in basketball).

Florida has been a top 10 program for 25 years. That's like 50% longer than current recruits have been alive. Once you get past the hoops blue bloods of Duke, UNC, Kentucky, Kansas and UCLA, Florida is firmly in that next tier.

Well, on the bright side, at least I don't have to look at Canyon Berry's stupid face again (or his free throws).
