And FWIW, I'd expect the Pac 16 to go with an east/west split (original 8 PCC teams in the west, Colorado, Utah, the Arizona schools and the four new Big 12 schools in the east).
Right, same thing. It was just a way to list the teams, lol.
It's obvious at this point (and has been for a long time) that the Big 12 isn't going to work. South Florida and Central Florida are ridiculous suggestions. Not ever going to happen.
You are right there, because I think this thing (Big 12) is over.
The why for abd, is because keeping the Big 12 together is a contrarian viewpoint to mainstream ideas and sure to spark a debate.
I made my point on this really clear, and it wasnt to simply spark a debate. I think OU is in a better position to win by adding mid-level teams to the current collection of teams. Thats really it, and its not like I am the only guy who expressed that same exact opinion.
For more proof of the "why for abd" look at the second half of your post. You point out what the near consensus is for the PAC 16 Divisons; a West/East spilt.
Abd provided an example of different divisons that are plausible, but aren't likely to happen. If Texas does come along then I do not see anyway they spilt up the OU-UT power duo. Im sure some logic beside the obvious regional factors is hoping Oregon-USC is the power duo for the other division so each division has two flagship programs.
This is funny... I just listed the first 8 teams I could think of in the "north" division and the rest I put in the south division. It wasnt meant to be a realistic division alignment of the teams, lol. I was just listing what that combo of teams would look like vs. what adding mid-level teams to the current system could look like.
My goodness.....
Abd is simply a guy who likes to stand out amongst the crowd and he does that by forming a different opinion than the norm.
What is the norm? Some people want to try to keep the Big 12 together, other people want to go to the Pac-16 model, some people want to go to the SEC, some people want a whole new conference! There is no "norm" here, and trying to keep the league is not some radical idea that I am pimping to go against the grain.
Hell, David Boren and some of the other school Presidents are trying everything they can to keep it together. Boren tried to get A&M to stay! Boren wanted the same thing I did. Is he just trying to stand out? Is his opinion different than the norm (whatever that is)?
but for most people all that went out the window when Nebraska bolted last year.
Losing Nebraska hurt, a lot. A&M probably just killed the whole thing though. It might have worked if they were able to add some decent, promising programs, but I think this thing is over.
