Explain your handle

As a wee lad, a brother, a friend and I realized that (provided your address was correct), you could sign up for magazines with fake names. This was groundbreaking news, the biggest caper of the age.

I waited in anticipation, and then laughed the largest of laughs once a month (for many years) as a copy of Sports Illustrated addressed to 'Jacknife Marie McFadden' arrived in my mailbox.

Sooner fan since I was born!! Said my first cuss word in front of my entire family at the end of the 1988 loss to KU in the Championship game, at the age of 8. I think I said "sh*t" or something. The whole room got silent. Didn't get in trouble. I think I got a free pass.

Joined the Navy in 2002 and went to the Persian Gulf and Horn of Africa.

Hence the name: SoonerWarVet

Mine is an homage to Tony Danza's character "Tony Micelli" on the television program Who's The Boss?, the greatest show in the history of American network tv.

Do you watch Community?

First part is one of my college nicknames...a roommate used to call me "Flounder" for various reasons. When I started posting on OU websites I lived in the Washington DC area...thus FlounderinDC.

My Dad was looking for a good personalized plate for his car... he's Czech and loves chess so I came up with CzechM8... I use it too because I'm half Czech and I just think it's cool.

I post as WichitaSooner on various other Sooner related boards... but I haven't lived in Wichita for over 10 years now and don't plan to ever again. lol

"NM" - because I live in New Mexico (Albuquerque)
"Sooner" - because I'm an alumnus
"80" for the Class of 1980.

I'm extra-proud of the "80" part because students in my general era at OU (fall of '76 through the spring of 1980) were some of the first to really pack the arena and make it loud. This was back when the Lloyd Noble was a new place to watch live college basketball also, and we didn't mind that it took a bit of a drive to get there and had only one entrance (Jenkins) at the time.

Also, in the FWIW department, the 1976-77 season was the first after the no-dunking rule was eliminated for college basketball. So some of the guys in the freshman class that year who had "hops" - Al Beal, Clifford Johnson and Aaron Curry, took advantage and made basketball fun for our newly-developing basketball fan base.

As in THE WichitaSooner from the O'Connells board on the old OUInsider?

I've always thought this actor was funny and he's from my hometown (Chickasha). I just watched Blazing Saddles again on CMT the other day and it had me cracking up like the first time I saw it.

"Oh, Lawdy-Lawd, he's desp'at! Do what he say, do what he saaaayyyy... do what he saaaayyyy..."

And a few minutes later...

"Oh, baby, you are so talented--and they are so dumb!"

Tell me what to invest $10,000.00 in and I will blindly do it with no research or even so much as a second thought.

I trust you, boca.

TQQQ. It's the Nasdaq 100 3X leveraged ETF. Don't trust me. Trust global mobile internet explosion that is just getting started.

TQQQ gives you exposure to Apple, Google, Qualcomm, etc. You don't care who wins because you have exposure to all of them.

Your post reminded me of the the Who's the Boss episode

That was funny.

I was just joking about that being the reason for my handle though. The real reason is that I am such a big fan of 1970s pop group Tony Orlando and Dawn.

I was also joking about the reason for my handle. I am actually a bok choy enthusiast, but I shortened it to bok to make logging in easier.
