Explain your handle

Steve Grodie was basketball player at michigan st in 77 or 76 high school buddies thought i looked like him and called me grodie. i lurk this board everyday.
I do as well. Good thread Bigtime.

I was Capelistheman..... That faded when Blake left and the losses mounted. Now, Perk's Scowl. Just look at Kendrick, he means business. The kind of business I feel Lon is about to bring to Lloyd Noble. Winning.

I got this shot of Perk. Is this the scowl of which you speak?

I used to be Capelfan but now he's at Duke, so I'm Krugerfan.

I was sad to see the Capel era end the way it did after the great things he accomplished winning 30 games, getting 4 guys drafted into the NBA in two years. But I'm glad that our new coach seems like a good guy. He will be easy to root for. Neither of them seem as fun as Billy but both much easier to like than KS IMO.

If our next coach has as much class as Capel and Kruger then I'll be Smithfan, or Williamsfan or whatever his name is.

Short for High Plains Drifter...the 5th track on Paul's Boutique. One of the greatest albums ever produced.

I liked Booger from Revenge of the Nerds but didn't want to just use "Booger", so I added "Big Old", of which I am neither (unless you call 40 old; my daughter does :ez-laugh:).

one of my buddies and i used to love the show Rob n Big.... friends would call us that from time to time when we'd go out to bars and stuff... there was an episode where Big revealed he was a dancer under the name Black Lavender... so naturally i had to have a stripper name... and it was White Chocolate... hence dubyac...

i'm northspeter on certain other boards...

oketex I am from Oklahoma graduated from OU my wife is from Ft. Worth and is a graduate of the university that thinks it is better than anyone else (TU)

I was trying to think of a Yahoo Id back in 1996 or so. I was around 25 and that was when everyone was saying stuff like "You Rock!". So I was Steverocks35. I know, not a very cool story or original handle, it just stuck with me.

A great offseason thread...i havent posted on here and only check about once a week since i changed jobs...i am actually working now...crazy huh...

Mine is very simple, i live in Edmond...i am only a Sooner because i live in the Sooner state since i am one of those bums that follows and is passionate about a university i didnt attend...i did live in Norman and went to Chi Alpha on campus one year as well as play at the Huff, so i guess i can at least say i've experienced the social life of OU without having to go to class...

Hutch's nickname (no, I'm not in Utah but I'd love to have a buck for every time somone has placed me there) is the Salt City, due to all the rock salt deposits/mines around here.

Nickname given to me in high school, given due to passing ability, I always assumed. This was ironic because I didn't pass much after high school, lol. Came from pick-up, playground games more than anything.

(No, I didn't come up with the name)

gommy is the name of my 3 year old daughter's imaginary friend.

No great mystery in the name I chose. I live in Ada and I'm a Sooner fan. I wish now that I had been more creative. But I've been AdaSooner on fan boards for so many years, I'm not about to change.

My name is an homage to the unsung hero of the French Revolution, the woodsawyer in A Tale of Two Cities (kind of an inside joke between me and a class full of high school freshmen when I was a student teacher).

Interesting.

I figured yours was actually paying homage to Mark Twain and his books about Tom Sawyer since you, Tom Sawyer, and Mark Twain are all from Missouri.

Mark Twain is one of the most important Americans period, let alone American authors (and in case you didn't figure it out, I was an English teacher... Taking time off to get a masters beginning this fall, though). That said, Tom Sawyer is kind of a douche. Not the character I'd choose to name myself after in American literature.
