Football question

I don't believe you'll be able to take a thing from tomorrow night. Season starts opening drive, next Saturday.
This is true unless we win by like 10-15 or so OR we see either of our Lines getting pushed around..

I remember watchint that temple, tulane, and Houston actually held their own in the trenches. I knew it was going to be a long season

Agree completely. Regardless of who plays and who doesn’t, if we don’t physically dominate these guys and look like a disciplined, well-coached team, that’s going to be concerning. Other than that, my only concern is whether the coach has been lying about injuries. I still maintain that guys don’t miss the season opener for purely precautionary reasons. This isn’t a 162-game MLB season. You only get 12 regular season games a year. If guys are healthy, they play. You absolutely can/should get them out early if you’re handling your business, but they should at least play some to get the rust off.

I agree 100%. Dudes that are 80-100% play the first game to atleast knock the rust off. Not saying they play a bunch. I do think we’ll have a few mystery injuries that linger on until late in the season. Gibson will definitely be one of them. Maybe Ott too. Just praying it’s not like last year.

Not OU football but I watched some of the Auburn Baylor game last night. Jackson Arnold got a raw deal at OU but he’s still a bust. He was a five start recruit that has essentially tuned into a game manager/ running back at the QB spot.

THIS. Nice rushing, sure. But Haynes King does better at GT and he was a nobody and basically a bust at A&M and has randomly reinvented himself at GT.

Arnold is not a guy you pay more than 300-400k for even as a starting QB. Terrible value play

I didn't see the game. I knew going in that we would use about 10% of the playbook, but one thing frightened me when looking at the stats from the RBs not named "Blaylock". Were they that bad or was the offensive line looking like what we saw all of last year?

Barnes should pack his bags and enter the portal. Blaylock was exponentially better. Excited to see what Ott can do if he's truly better.

OL was incredibly disappointing. Mateer was disappointing to me, but maybe Arbuckle can scheme him to be one of those college standouts that has no NFL future.

I suspect retaining BB will be what costs BV his job this year.
100%. Vanilla playbook or not, they should get push on an FCS team. Barnes is not a world beaterbut you cannot judge a running back with how the oline was blocking. BB is the problem

The oline was really really bad on the run. Cant judge the rbs for that.

sure you can judge a rb. barnes averaged 1.3 to blaylock's 5.5.
barnes should be 4th team. he just doesn't do much of anything very well.

The first touch of the games, Barnes was in wide open space, one-on-one against an FCS linebacker … and got ankle tackled. Much like has happened his entire career.

Warms the heart to see Sawchuk channel Jamar Toombs and carry five Alabamians into the end-zone on the 20-yard game-clinching run to paydirt. Can't play here. No.
I just cannot believe we're staring at another year of a Charmin line up front. How can we be so soft?

sawchuck had 6 carries for 28 yds today...he's nothing special.
blaylock has more talent in his little toe.
