Football question

I hope so, but if he isn't ready to go for our first conference game, I have a feeling they will hold him out of Kent State "to be cautious," and that he will have to make his debut on the biggest regular season stage possible. But I would love it if they at least get him out there against Kent State to knock the rust off.

I bet 25 plays vs Kent state for Gibson and Eli. Rest Gentry that game. Anyone with nagging injuries sits IMO or limited action once we handle them early.

I agree with that. And the way the schedule lines up also means that any guys who are 50/50 this week need to lay it on the line and play, knowing they will have three weeks to recover.

the availability report has been updated and it looks like several of the o-linemen will indeed play saturday.

I remember thinking the same thing about Jordan Thomas.
Corner is a tough position but we certainly have had some weird guys shine and then seem like their brand new to football at the end.. Aaron colvin was prolly are last stud from start to finish

Whether it's college or pro, the CB position has definitely not been kind to OU. The guy who might have been the best ever at OU was a guy by the name of Andre Johnson. He was a starter as a freshman back in 1984. Sadly, he was badly injured in a car accident that pretty much ended his career. Dante Jones once said that the games against Miami would have ended differently because he would have been able to cover Michael Irvin. The last above-average NFL cornerback OU produced? Bobby Boyd was a great one, but he retired 57 years ago. As for this century, I thought Thorpe winner Derrick Strait would have been at least a solid NFL CB, but that didn't materialize.

Let's hope we now have a great one or two!

another potentially great corner....whose career also ended because of a car accident.....michael thompson
he....strait....williams....everage....might have been the best secondary in ou history. (throw in thatcher and ontei jones as well)
i think thompson was only a redshirt freshman on the national championship team.

Strait is my fave player all time. He dropped a sure thing INT for the jets in the afc championship and it was over.. if he made that pick i think he would have had a great nfl career. Phenomenal CB for ou tho
