I grew up a Hawkeye fan. Was so until I stepped on campus at OU in the mid-90's. I was happy that Bruce Pearl got a chance, but he has too much baggage for this program right now.

Indy, while Pearl would be a good hire without the baggage, I think most of us know that there is no way that can happen under the circumstances. I'm not even sure OU would take a chance on him if the NCAA wasn't looking over their shoulder?

Lets say OU hires cousin Brucey and he throws one of his illegal NCAA kegger/bbq shindig and the man comes down strong on OU w/ sanctions, this creates a scenario that could be fun:

1) OU hoops gets the death penalty or a Baylor no regular season games sanction because of the illegal kegger/bbq, or

2) OU hoops get sanctioned but not to bad, and lets say w/ in the next 5 years another sport (lets say football for argument sake) has a rouge booster that slips a player a couple of C notes, the NCAA comes back around and you now have to worry that the second sport (which in this scenario was Football, OU football, a pretty big $$$ maker) might get the death blow b/c of 2 violations in a 5 year window.


so to some up....There is no way in Hell cousin Brucey is getting the job.

I just sit back and imagine Joe Castiglione announcing Bruce Pearl as the next hc of OUMBB and laugh at the bandwidth wasted on the matter. Is there anybody that believes that this could really happen?
