? does Buddy come back next year If he does we are going to have the best back court in the Big 12

I tend to agree that we have the best back court this year, but that might be a homer pick. KU is the only team that is comparable.

Do I think Buddy will return if he's projected to go 1st round/early 2nd? No. I wouldn't anyway. I'm trying to figure out a way that we/he has a great end of the season, yet his draft stock falls. I'll get back to you when I figure it out lol

Are second round picks guaranteed a contract? If not he should stay unless he is a first round pick.

I'm probably in the minority, but I think he needs to stay another year.

He needs to get better handling the ball.....that will help him get separation so that he can get his shot off. He has a hard time going one-on-one and getting a good shot from distance.

jmo....

I agree too. Also why would you leave early to be a 2nd round pick? If he came back we would be really deep next year with really only losing Thomas (Bennett's PT dwindled in Big 12 play) but replace him with Buford, James, O'domes, and hopefully Manyang can make it to Norman without any personal issues.

Buddy needs to stay his senior year. It will pay dividends for him. He needs to handle the ball better.

His stock won't get higher thn it is right now, probably should go.

It's not about getting better, it's striking when the iron is hot. Any skills or deficiencies he has can be worked on at the next level.

If he has great Big 12 and NCAA's then I think he goes. The iron will be extremely hot. Playing at a high level on the big stage means a lot to scouts (ask Mitch McGary).

If not, then he might return.

Either way, I'm good, Hield is a great Sooner.

I definitely don't think his stock has peaked. He is really starting to show another deminsion in getting to the paint this year and finishing. His D seems noticeably better as well.

It's going to come down to what Buddy wants. Does he want to play his senior year of college, on a loaded team? Or does he want to start his professional career?

I can just about guarantee he won't be given a draft grade, and won't be drafted in a position that necessitates he "must leave". I just don't see that happening. But maybe he is ready to start earning a pay check. Maybe his family has some financial needs we don't know about. None of us, as fans, can gauge that side of this argument. Buddy seems to enjoy the college game/atmosphere. He seems to embrace it. Might depend on what kind of run we make in the Dance.

As much as I hate it, you're right. That is assuming he finishes this season playing the same way he currently is, but it's all about selling your stock when it's high. Coming back for another year would be a risk that he would all of a sudden having trouble hitting water if he fell out of a boat, getting injured....etc.

That being said, I really, really want him to come back for one more year. As special as the team could be this year, it could be even moreso with Buddy back for one more run.

I remember Ryan Minor had a great junior year and came back to OU for his senior season. He didn't have as good a year and was a 2nd round pick and didn't make an NBA roster. If he would have left a year earlier he would have been a 1st round pick with guaranteed money. Same thing with Willie Warren. He should have left when Blake did.

It's a tough call, but I want the best thing for Buddy's long-term future. I just don't know what it is. If he were my son and gets a 1st round "grade" I would tell him to go.

I'm sure Kruger will help him decide.

Scouts know this, it's public knowledge and will be factored into his "grade".
Do I think he's good enough to stick on a NBA roster? Not yet, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't go if he wants to make some money. But, hypothetically, leaving right now gives him the best chance IMO.

After that, it's just comes down to his personal preference...loaded senior year or paycheck. There isn't a wrong answer.

McGary was already on their radar before the NCAA's...he was drafted on potential. Question was never whether McGary had the motor for the NBA, it was whether he could defend and stay healthy.
