‏@franfraschilla: This @ouhoops team reminds me the team when Hield/Cousins/Spangler were Sophs but deeper. Potentially same trajectory
@franfraschilla: Name to remember for @OU_MBBall: Kristian Doolittle. 6-7 animal who played with Jordan Woodard in HS. Typical Kruger star by jr. year.
@franfraschilla: Won't be long before @OU_MBBall's @khadeemlattin considered one of best defensive players in country. Offense coming quickly, too.

Encouraging observations from a guy who knows his basketball!

Thanks for the tweets!

This is the part that infuriates me when he does one of our games. He can tweet so glowingly about the kids and program but on TV it's almost just the opposite. I had hoped when James was no longer on the squad he wouldn't feel like he had to over compensate for his connection to the squad.

Fran may reveal more about OU because he knows more about the team as well as the program. As fans, we expect him to focus on the positives, and we get upset when he touches on the negatives from time to time.

I think you're right in that he went a little overboard with the criticism sometimes to avoid being accused of favoritism because his son was on the team. While I understood that part, I never really liked it.

However, there was never any doubt in my mind that OU had a special place in Fran's heart because James was very much a part of the program. If that was not the case, why was he instrumental in his son's choice of schools? His presence at OU's practices this week is another sign of the continuing connection he feels.

Well, not quite the opposite. Remember the most recent conference tournament game against WVU when we all thought for a brief moment that Buddy won it with a half-court shot? Fran was screaming like he was an OU alum. He was definitely caught up in that moment and let his guard down. I don't think if a WVU player did that, he would have had that same level of enthusiasm. Of course, there are other times when he does overcompensate, so I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you...but I definitely see moments like the aforementioned one which shows he's a fan of OU basketball.

I broadcast high school sports for a lot of schools not just one school every night. I can tell you from experience it's really easy to get caught up in the moment of a game winning shot/situation like that no matter who makes it.
