GAME 2 - OKLAHOMA (1-0) vs #21 GONZAGA (1-0) (Spokane) 9:30pm CST on ESPN2

The one thing I’ll say for people who are arguing we shouldn’t overreact to one game: last year, we played our first road game against Bama. Everyone was giddy over our noncon and thought we had turned the corner. We got absolutely blasted … and that very much was a sign of things to come. The Bama game exposed all our flaws and showed how much better the really good/great teams were. This seems like the same thing, only difference being it’s November rather than January. But I’m not sure why we should have much confidence that Moser will get it figured out. I mean, he has had four years to “figure out” how to fix our rebounding and turnover issues, and hasn’t come close to cracking the code. Are we to trust that this game will suddenly lead to a eureka moment??

If we had won, you wouldn't put any stock in it. I know this for a fact, as evidenced by games like Michigan where you expected us to get smoked.

You've always been the person screaming about not putting stock in noncon games when we're winning, so don't change your tune just because it fits your Lon narrative.

I haven’t read a thing he’s said in a couple of years. Block is a wonderful tool!

I don’t put stock in wins against non-legitimate competition because those teams are so bad that of course we will look athletic and deep by comparison. So many people on the board as so easily fooled by that stuff. Of course we look impressive compared to teams that would struggle to win games at a high level health club.

I absolutely gave us credit for beating Michigan. I didn’t expect us to win that game but when we did, I said it was a great win.

IF my aunt had balls she’d be my uncle
Your aunt probably does have balls. My point was we aren’t going to shoot 23% from 3 every game. Did you even watch the whole thing?? Several misses were wide open. I’ve said all along I felt we were one big man shy on this team. I know we weren’t going to land a top post out of the portal, but if we just had another Wague type…it would be huge. The 2nd half was much better, and Wague made an impact at times when he was on the court.

I think what sums up the difference in programs can be found in the post game briefs from cbssports.com. Gonzaga plays Tuesday at home against #23 Creighton. OU returns home Tuesday against Arkansas-pine bluff. Sheesh
And who does Gonzaga play during their conference play?? They have to play a tough non-conference, because their conference isn’t anything close to the SEC.

Glad we were able to ride the Lottery pick that fell into our lap to a 6-12 record in the league.

That's our new MO! Felt like a mirror of Trae Young's tenure.

Only our beloved Capel could ride a freshman phenom to an NCAA win.

I didn’t have to watch anymore than the first half to see what I needed to see. We were outclassed in both personnel AND coaching as we always are. If, if, if… whatever

And we continue to play cupcakes that hide the deficiencies of our coach and don’t help strengthen our team at all.

We still play Marquette, OSU, wake, Arizona St…so that’s decent non con teams. Some of the lower ranked…I wish they were a little better, but at the end of the season…we’ll have a tough schedule when you factor in all the conf games. This team has a ton of new players…and they will hopefully improve as the season goes. Regardless, I’ll be watching.

Too much stock being placed on one game against a really good team early in the season.

Used the right way —. See where you are and where you need to improve and then get after it. We will see

I still think this will be porter’s best team. Hopefully we finish top half of the sec and a decent position in the ncaa

Keep the faith my friends

I don’t have a huge problem with the non conference schedule this year. Nebraska is another sold team they play at a neutral site.

Honest question: could anyone who has even a passing knowledge of the sport have gone into this game not knowing what we need to improve? We have been soft as hell, haven’t rebounded, and have been bad defensively for a long time. We gave up 44 pts in one half to one of the 20 worst teams in America to start the season. If it took last night to see where we need to improve, that’s pretty alarming. Like, did Porter watch the game and think, man, apparently we aren’t good at competing on the glass, what a shock?
