GAME 29 - OKLAHOMA (17-11) @ MISSISSIPPI (19-9) 1:00pm CST on ESPN2

Went back and watched the final segment again and it’s unreal that Moser decided to defend them that way with 20+ seconds left. If there are only a few seconds left, switching everything makes sense. But we came out with Miles on Pedulla, but then proceeded to switch two screens, leading to Goodine and then Godwin. Just awful coaching. No way either of those guys should be guarding him, and Goodine shouldn’t even be on the floor in that situation. Beard had to be licking his chops realizing that CW did exactly what he wanted him to do. Why even bother putting Miles on him if you’re going to allow the offense to dictate who actually guards him once the screens are set?

Completely agree. Ole Miss missed about 4 FTs down the stretch and we still didn't get it done. The players did their part but Coach Moser didn't.

Just got back from the UK, awful to have missed the two heartbreakers that I followed on my phone. (debating on actually watching them)

That being said, I would like to get a follow-up from @WichitaSooner on his preseason Dayton take. Maybe converted you a bit? (this is not a shame post, but a ... Dayton is a surprising bright spot)

Will be interested to see what happens from here. Program is definitely teetering.

Any reason why Glenn Taylor Jr. wasn't shadowing Pedulla at the end?

Oh I’ve said it several times. I was wrong on him. I hope he stays after the coaching change but that’s never a given.

Agree on Taylor. Although since we switched everything, it probably wouldn’t have mattered since Beard still would have exploited that strategy to get Godwin on him.

Like dead wrong, to be fair

Again, I don't hide it. And I didn't hide it on Moore and Soares last year. I still wonder if Dayton will ever be a star as opposed to a player who would really good third option on a good team, but either way, he is far better than I expected, and one of the only bright spots on the team.

On the other hand, I don't see many of the folks who were drooling over Miles and Elvis and some of the other transfers admitting that they were dead wrong all summer and even into early January when hyping them up as better and tougher than Oweh and Uzan. On balance, I think I was very accurate in saying that this year's roster was a significant step back from last year, which was my point all along. Whether it is in two weeks or (God forbid) 12 months, when Moser's time is finally up, last season will be the one that we should all look back on as the biggest failure. Even if people believe the folks who claim our NIL budget was approximately five bucks, we ended up with a pretty good (and athletic) roster that he completely mismanaged and did a terrible job coaching.

Weren't many folks drooling over them I don't think. (could be wrong, I may have had slight optimism on Duke based on my numbers, but he clearly was not ready for a tough conf)

I know myself and SB were very adamant and unhappy with the Elvis acquisition. Majority of this board was unhappy with our portal other than Jadon Jones and Fears. We were optimistic about Nwankwo, and thought we missed big on bigs. It was pretty spot on tbh.

Not you guys, but quite a few folks were pretty happy and were absolutely arguing at the end of noncon that they were upgrades. And in the offseason, I got lots of "how do you know they won't be good, you need to give them a chance" comments.

I doubt Jones will stick around and will be interested to see where he lands and how he does. He hasn't played at a very high level, so I think the jury is out on what kind of impact he would make at a power conference school. Some of those guys make the leap and ball out, but others really struggle.

once again .. Wague +5 and Sam -9 ..

and moser refuses to adjust the min ..

so wague had 1 rebound....0 pts....and 4 fouls in 7+ minutes of action.
how many more minutes do u want wague to play?

those +/- numbers don't really tell much of a story at all imo....

they do over the season ..

wague is a much much better defender ..

sam is not a winning player at this level

i agree wrt sam....but damn...wague probably would have fouled out with 30 seconds more pt.

also...can you say with certainty that the +5 was absolutely because of wague being in the game?
there are 9 other players on the floor that contribute to that number.

edit: forsythe was a -1....did he deserve more minutes or less?

forget about this one game for a second .. and look at the entire season .

and yes I have been on record for a long time that wague should play until he fouls out every game

It's interesting you say that about Sam when the announcers in the last few games seemed to gush over him, how tough he is, sets great screens, nose for the ball in rebounding, etc...although it could've been the same announcer (color commentator) in those games.

Wague's minutes (15) jumped against A&M and he had some hustle plays, with 3 pts, 2 rebs, 2 stls and 3 fouls. It seems like he flashed (but also peaked) in the UGA game, with 10/3/3 and 3 fouls, and many said they didn't know he had that in him (hadn't seen it yet) and we needed to see more of him. However, he fouled out in 17 minutes the next game against UT with 3/7/0, had 4/3/1 and 3 fouls against USC, and 2/0/2 and 4 fouls against Arky. While his defense seems to be better than Sam, he gets in foul trouble easily, still looks lost on offense much of the time, and they don't use him on screens, handoffs, etc. nearly as much as Sam when he is in. I can only assume that the offense runs better with Sam in, and PM is willing to take that tradeoff...although that's giving PM a lot of credit considering some of his coaching blunders lately.
