It's hard to react and pass out of that situation when you're expecting a half-way decent ref to make the right call and you're launched out of bounds. If he didn't throw that up it'd lessen the chance they call it and it likely would have been a turnover anyway..

While I agree, and posted, how bad it is we ALWAYS, switch ball screens up top, and in that situation we should have at least doubled off the screen, if it wasn’t Godwin on the switch, Goodine was guarding him on the screen.

Would have liked to avoid any switch in that situation and let Miles guard him. If he drives, he drives, and if we foul on the screen, we foul.

But we had two bad defenders out top on the screen. No good can come from that

Duke had the step then the defender recovered amazingly. Then Forsyth had it in the corner but not a great look. He should have just pulled up a jumper.. sadly, just like last game... double sadly, no adjustment, learning, coaching from the literal last game before...

Hard to know what is worse. Moser allowing that to happen, or Sam not realizing that the one thing he couldn’t allow was a three. If he beats you off the dribble and gets a layup, fine, we are tired and have the final possession. Stay on his damn toes and don’t let him shoot a three no matter what. But this team and staff is awful at the details that decide games.

You're giving idiot pm credit where it's not due. The truth is there was no strategy on defense.. ole miss simply did EXACTLY what they wanted to do and pm took it like a little biatch, like he always does (just like UK did exactly what they wanted to do too..)

Nope.

Goodine was on Pedulla coming up the court, Godwin on 4 who set the high screen, Miles was covering the wing, and fears and Forsythe was covering the guys in the corner, with Fears hedging toward the lane.

Would have rather seen Miles on Pedulla. And maybe even double him prior to the screen.

But at the very least, don’t switch on the high pick, fight over the top, and worst case scenario you get a hold on the high screen fighting over the top or on the drive if he beats you over the screen to the rim.

But you don’t have Godwin on the switch backing off, essentially giving their best 3pt shooter a 3 with an open look.

And I can make that call from my recliner and not cost $3.7M to call it

This is it. Playing right into the opponent strengths. Pedulla is a great shooter. Get in his grill. Oweh is a great driver. Sag off of him. Am I missing something here?

Agree, in that situation, especially with our coach, you’re very unlikely to get a truly open look. He was in a pretty good position to at least draw contact. Once he passed, we were in trouble.
