GAME 26 - OKLAHOMA (16-9) @ #2 Florida (22-3) 6:00pm CST on ESPN2 (this should go well )

I mean they’re a decent team and he’s a good coach, but they are 8-6 in a league that isn’t great. They’ve only played 3 ranked teams in league play. Six of our losses have been against top 8 teams. Not taking up for OU by any means, but they would struggle in this league
About to be 9-6 and ranked and an easy bid into the tournament that pm couldn't locate with a map

don't get it twisted the Big 12 is still a very good league ..
Dude, I get that..but compare who they have played vs. who we have played. Tonight would be their first win against a ranked team in conference. Houston beat them by 30. It’s not even close.

Not being able to fully enjoy Kansas and Toupee Bill's full on collapse because OU is in the absolute shitter is annoying as hell.
Yup.. crazy sad that their collapse is 6th in the big 12 and right outside of the top 25 (likely will still make the tournament).. compared to PM's entire tenure

We are officially in 15th place one LSU closes their game tonight. Remember all the folks crowing about how ridiculous the preseason projection was? The bar was on the ground and Loser is still going to fail to clear it. Maybe all of us who pointed to the portal rankings and national predictions weren’t off base, after all.

After tonight, they have a better Q-1 record, have played fewer Q-4 games despite playing a bad noncon, and have no losses outside Q-1 and Q-2. And they don’t suck, so they have that going for them.
Tonight will be their first win over a ranked team opponent (and KU is about to drop out of the polls), they got beat by Providence by 20, beat by Arizona at home by double digits. I wonder where we’d be and they would be if we switched spots?

How do you think they’d do in the SEC? Serious question. I would love to trade them head coaches and NIL support…that’s for dang sure. If I remember correctly, their coach came from the Suns??

BTW, seeing Crutchfield while watching the game made me think of him. I know he’s been mentioned, but what’s the overall thoughts of him here? I always liked him, but not sure what kind of expectations we have for a coaching replacement.

If Joe C hires Crutchfield, I'm going to put a bag of chit on Joe C's front porch every day for an entire calendar year.

That's how I feel about hiring Crutchfield.

He'll come cheap. He knows OU. Joe C. knows him.

He'll lose the press conference. The fans that were lost under PM won't come back.

I have a feeling whomever we hire, you are about to be disappointed.

Sorry man, but after having to pay a $7.5MM buyout…how much do you think we are going to pony up for a HC?

He wouldn’t be the sexiest hire to some of you, but we could do far worse. I’ve met him a couple of times..seems like a great dude. I can see him possibly getting an interview, but make no mistake I want to shoot for the stars if we can.

I think they’d be better than us. They shoot a ton of threes and have a real identity in how they like to play. Really good assist to turnover ratio, much better rebounding than we are. And they are getting better as the season progresses. Their stud freshman missed a lot of December and had just returned when they got off to a bad start in conference play, but they are rolling now. They probably wouldn’t be above .500 in the SEC, but I think they would be much better than 3-10. They also are tough to beat at home.

Their home crowd is impressive. What a luxury that is, to draw crowds like that...even when you aren't ranked. They're a nice team, but I think they would struggle mightily against teams like Auburn, Bama, Tenn, Florida, etc. They aren't the most athletic team in the world, besides Keita. If they are hitting the 3 ball, they're a tough out. You used to be able to say that about this year's OU team even...but not anymore. All of our best wins on the year (Mich, L-ville, Zona, Vandy) we shot the 3 ball well...but lately in these big games, it's been terrible.

The next couple of months will be very interesting. A new coaching staff and most likely a completely new roster...I'm trying to be optimistic. I would love to hold onto Rogers and a few of the guys on the current roster, but we all know how these coaching changes usually go. Didn't LSU lose everyone a couple of years ago when they made a change?

The goal shouldn't be "we could do far worse". Not this time around. The program is on life support. Hiring a 56 year old, "great dude", who's been a D1 HC (at a low major) for only three years, with mediocre results (better this year but will probably miss the tourney), would likely kill what's left. Hiring Crutch wouldn't open many new NIL purse strings either, IMO. He wasn't even that good of an assistant. His agent is doing great work apparently....for some reason people keep mentioning him.

If Tulsa fires Konkol, I doubt they'll even interview Crutchfield.

OU could do better, that's the goal. Much, much better.

OU should pay somewhere around what they're paying Moser now - $2.5-3.5 per year. The buyout shouldn't change that. If they're serious about the program, they need to get closer to $5 mill per.

Will Wade (McNeese St) - currently makes $700K
Bryan Hodgson (Arkansas St) - $650K
Ben McCollum (Drake) - private school but I'm guessing $600K ish
Ross Hodge (North Texas) - $700K
Tony Skinn (George Mason) - $950K
Chris Mack (Charleston) - $1.1 mill
Richard Pitino (New Mexico) - $1.2 mill
Jerrod Calhoun (Utah St) - $950K
Niko Medved (Colorado St) - $1.7 mill
Bryce Drew (Grand Canyon) - $1.5 mill
Ryan Odom (VCU) - $1.7 mill

Buyouts could make a couple of those guys non-options (I'm not researching length of contracts tonight)

If you're looking at the bottom of the barrel (lowest of majors), you'd be better off looking at Mike Morrell (UNC Asheville - learned under Oliver Purnell/Shaka Smart), Eric Henderson (South Dakota State - man knows how to evaluate talent, they just end up leaving - Mayo, Scheierman, Kyle III), Russell Turner (UC Irvine), Eric Olen (UC San Diego), Daniyal Robinson (Cleveland State - kind of kidding here because although I like what's he doing at ClevSt, he's a Moser buddy/former assistant and nah), Andy Newman (Cal St Northridge), Alan Huss (High Point), Takayo Siddle (UNC Wilmington)...
