One day when you are talking basketball with coach Tubbs ask this?

Would you define the system you ran at OU as being based on offense or defense?

I would be very curious to hear his answer. I suspect he will either say defense or challenge the question as not being legitimate because you have to play both defense and offense. I will be very surprised if he says offense.

I won't ask him that. But, I can tell you what he would say. It would be, " you are sitting there about every day watching, you figure it out".

I was talking about his system in the 80s not what OU is currently doing.

An interesting tidbit about Coach Tubbs - 4 of the 8 players he sent to the NBA (who played more than a season or two) were actually noted more for their defense (Blaylock, Grant, Bowie and Kurt Thomas) than their offense (Tisdale, King, B Price and Lee Nailon). Still, his early teams were pretty bad defensively. Prior to the Elite Eight game against Memphis in the 1985 NCAA Tournament, Coach Tubbs joked: "Our goal is to be the worst defensive team to ever make the Final Four."

I think Tubb's team played good defense. They looked worse than they were because of the pace of the game, but you don't get to run like they did if you aren't getting stops.
