Wonder what the difference is between filed a financial aid agreement and signed a financial aid agreement?

I think if you sign after the 'official' signing period is over you don't sign a LOI. You just sign the Financial Aid Agreement.

I thought all ships were for one year, I think I heard that.

They could be, but then I don't see why a player should/would have to sit out a year if they wanted to change schools.

They are all for 1 yr. They sit out a yr. if they transfer because that is the rule. There are plenty of valid arguments that the rule is a bad one.

Everything about this girl and the way her signing played out screams to me as "just another practice body."

I would like to be wrong, I really would. Our recent history tells me I may be right, however.

You are probably right. But, I would like to think of her as more of a project signee that has a chance to work out well.

Don't have an opinion as I haven't seen her, but she sounds like another arkie signee, Ny Stevenson. Nobody knew much about her, but she was extremely athletic. This sounds like Gibbs, but who knows.

Ny didn't help much until her junior year and wasn't really good until her senior year, but by the end she was an key piece in our final four run. I would take that again from another "project".

would be nice if she was better than that, but we will just have to wait and see. On the positive side, we have a deep and experienced team coming back next year and so we won't really need her next year. So, although we dont' redshirt much, she might be a good candidate.

I'm excited about all the kids that sign with OU. Let em work it out in practice and summer work outs. The cream always rises to the top, and some just need more work than others. Let's see who is committed, and buys into the system and becomes part of the "family". I hope they all stick.

So, if we haven't seen Dungee play, should we not be excited that she has committed to OU?

No, we should be excited, Gibbs too. The smart comment is 'no opinion without having seen her' as opposed to everything about this girl screams practice player. I doubt anyone on this forum knows "everything" about Gibbs, or even much at all.

Ask me my opinion about Dungee and I will say I really don't have an opinion yet as I haven't seen her but I hear she is a great prospect and am excited that she has committed to OU. I haven't heard anything about Gibbs and will hold forming an opinion until I have something to base it on.

My post that you questioned had nothing to do with anticipation or enthusiasm, it was all about forming an opinion based on so little information.

When I find out certain players are McDonalds All-Americans or are being recruited by elite programs like UCONN/Tenn/ND, or they make elite USA teams, I have to admit my excitement is higher than it is for players who are not highly recruited/ranked. That doesn't mean that players who are not recruited by good programs cannot turn out to be good players but admittedly, my expectations for those players are not as high.

I remember when we recruited CP, Aaryn, Whitney, etc I was extremely excited even before their arrival. I won't name them but, there have been others who did not get me excited when they signed. I think it is natural for people to have opinions based upon the available player information; however, we should all realize the top players may not be as good at the D-1 level as advertised while other lower ranked players may turn out to be better than we expected.

It does not bother me to take a "project" in a 15 player roster where there is room to gamble on a player or two. But, it is very important to see some great players being added as well.

Looking at the class of 2014, we are in on some really good players, just hoping we can close the deal.

We just won our second softball national title with a team that some say is the best in history. I notice that we have had a lot of recruits committed since they were freshmen. Exactly who is it that Gasso solicits to find out which eighth-graders are among the nation's best? You think it is possible that she makes that determination herself?

I'm sure that Patty, or someone on her staff, watches every player before they offer. But, there are softball recruiting services and I'm sure she gets leads from those services as well as other avenues.
