I wanted Brad Stevens, but given where we are/were I think we are lucky to get Kruger.

He's going to bring stability, a clean program, good coaching and good recruiting to a program in badly needing of all four.

He was the best out there that was really available to us.

I might actually buy season tickets next year (I stopped two years ago).

Im excited as well, has a history of turning programs around, now just get some young assistant coaches that are great at recruiting and we will be good

I think this is a really good hire... just exactly what we need at this point to get things turned around and get the fans excited about OU basketball again. I give Joe C two thumbs up...very good job!

This was a great hire and I couldn't be happier. Looking ahead, I would like to see Kruger groom someone to replace him once his contract expires and he retires. Do you think Terry Evans could work on his staff?

He's just (ho hum) ok. Mediocre at best.

I know one of his main assistant is K-State great Steve Henson and the other two assistants have BIG XII ties and have been with Kruger for along time. Henson is considered one of the top 25 assistants in the country by many.

Greg Grensing was with Kruger at K-State and then stayed there under Dana Altman and then followed him to Creighton. Grensing then joined back up with Kruger at UNLV.

Lew Hill has been with Kruger for all of his stay at UNLV and came from Texas A&M where he was there for quite awhile. He is a Wichita State grad.

So as a whole, this is really a BIG XII region staff in the first place.

Yes, it is April Fools... would like to see the press release naming Lon as our new coach posted up there. :)

I know it won't happen today because they're not going to announce anything until after Kruger has met with his players. Not sure if it happens tomorrow because I don't know if you want to compete with the Final 4 in the "news cycle". The title game is Monday so maybe they'll do it on Sunday.

According to a LV newspaper, there is a meeting with the players tonight. I will see if I can find the link.

better than Gillispie.

Gillispie is 52, has a 62.2% career win percentage, 7 years d1 head coaching experience, and baggage.

Kruger is 58, has a 61.2% career win percentage, 29 years d1 head coaching experience, and no baggage.

Gillispie has made it to the sweet 16.

Kruger has made it to the sweet 16, elite 8, and final 4.

we got the proven, stable guy.

Abolutely. I would have been ok with Williams but Lon was my # 1 from the get go.

Lon gives us instant credibility. Sure Buzz and Pastner may have been good hires but Kruger isn't a far 3rd place. Also Buzz and Pastner bring a certain amount of risk which Lon likely will not.

The more I think about this the happier I am because I am pretty certain we will be headed back to relevancy pretty soon.

Still LOVE your stage name, lol. As a maniac Seinfeld fan you can't get any better than that. "And you want to be my Latex salesman"
