Do you anticipate Goff contributing more or less than CJ has this season? I think he will contribute about the same.

I'm not sure anyone can answer your question with any degree of certainty. Goff's size should give him an advantage over C.J. on defense and rebounding. The energy and growing confidence C. J. brings to the court may offset that advantage, though.

Judging by Goff's stats this year and what I saw of him in the two games I watched, I don't expect to see a huge boost in what he will bring to the team on offense. In many respects Robert and C. J. are the same player, only one is listed at 6' 9" 230 and the other at 6' 7" 209.

Unless one or both develops an offensive game in the off season, most of the plays will be run through Fitz when OU has the ball. Not saying that's a bad thing, just that from what I have seen so far, Goff and Washington are not players who will give us a lot of help on the offensive end next year.

i need to see how goff plays first. we all know CJ gives his all out there hes just so skinny compared to the other big guys. maybe yo yo & bulk him up in the off season this year!

I agree 100%

So nobody thinks he will be more productive than CJ, huh?

I know we keep going to this, but no one can really say. WE all thought 3 MCD AA's would have had more impact last year. We all thought Cam, TJ (though not his fault), NT, 40 Cal, and CJ would have had more impact this year. Recruiting is hard to figure. I'm going to take the wait and see approach on not only Goff, but Osby as well. I don't want to build it up like have in the past then be disappointed/depressed if it crashes down

Ahh, the rational approach, I can respect that.

for some reason i have had to be a voice of reason around here lately. And i'm the same guy that went on a curse laden drunken tirade about Baylor the night before we went to Waco this year. What is going on here?

Goff = Nick Thompson (in terms of impact)

That's really unfair because we cant judge what impact Goff will have on intensity and defense...

Sure the numbers look the same, but some of what this team needs is more in the physicality area and size...we know he brings the size and athleticism...as far as physicality and intensity/defense, we wont know that until he comes and plays...

I personally dont think Goff will have much impact next year...but if he can earn some time playing center by running the floor, playing physical, rebounding and providing a presence down low i think he can have a much bigger impact than CJ or Thompson...reguardless of what he does on the offensive end...

Maybe you're seeing things in a whole different light now that you're sober.

Or, it may be that you are making the ultimate sacrifice by taking my usual voice of reason spot, while I rant and rave about how bad things are. Now, that's what I call a team player! :ez-laugh:

I am all about the team ada

Goff's impact = Patillo's impact?

Sure hope you're right, jesse! Our coaches seem to agree, they went after him hard for two years or more.

Don't know if it's accurate, but Scout.com shows that Goff was also offered by Indiana, UT, ISU and Ohio State. If so, that's a fairly impressive list of suitors for a player who doesn't put up big numbers.

I'm just hoping there is more to Robert's game than I was able to see in the two games I watched online. We need him to have an impact somewhere, whether it's defense and rebounding or being a threat to score on the low block to take some of the pressure off of Drew.

Yeah, I've been quite negative on what I think Goff's impact will be as well. Just hopeful that he can help in the need based areas. I don't think Osby will have a big enough impact by himself to turn around the program. We'll just have to hope for the best.
