I'm a big fan of the @Creighton game. This should be the best OU team since 2009, and we should have a schedule to reflect it.
I'm excited we have a more challenging schedule, but would like to put this into perspective. During the prime years of the Billy Tubbs era, this current schedule would be mocked profusely. I'll never forget our 1987 OOC schedule - BYU and UNLV in the early season NIT, #1 UNLV (a second time), at Kentucky, at NC State (when Valvano was coach), LSU (Final Four previous year), at Texas, Texas A&M, Creighton and TCU (All-College). Even though some of those teams (like Texas) weren't what they are today, THAT was a non-conference schedule.
This is a good point and perhaps it is one reason attendance is down. Look at 88 and 89 (I am not going to list the weaker teams).
1988 - Texas A&M, Penn State, FSU, Virginia, Dayton, Georgia, LSU, Pitt and New Mexico, ORU
1989 - Ohio State, UNLV, MIchigan, SMU, New Mexico, ORU, Loyola (this was back when they were pretty good), Texas A&M, Texas, UNC Charlotte, Pitt, UNLV again, and Arizona.
