How does the transfer change your recruiting outlook?

I figured you would say something.

You and I disagree on a lot, however this time I think are you spot on. I am not one of those guys that will argue just because it was posted by a certain poster.

I say what I think or believe. Much like you, I will defend what I believe until I am dead or proven wrong.

:clap

Good to hear from you man.

McG, I dont think Omar Leary was any slouch coming out of junior college...his team was somewere around 34-2 and omar shot above 40 percent from threes I believe...he earned some junior college honors...I believe leary was alot more talented coming in...

I am fine with signing the kid but it just seems we are signing him so early in the year kinda giving up on getting other great pf/c's....but the thinking could be sign him early bring him in to practice with us all year to hopefully help out our scout team

I have nothing against Omar. He filled a need we had. But there is a reason he was unsigned so late. Yeah he decommitted from Colorado St. when there was a coaching change, but no one was jumping on his bandwagon.

Chris Walker was also a JUCO All-American. So I take all JUCO honors with a grain of salt.

Actually, he wasnt. He was in the California Juco league which is totally seperate from the traditional juco leagues where most D-1 players come out of.

Beat me to it, ABD.

California is a completely different entity.

Chris Walker is about on par with what has been coming out of Juco.

Let's have a pay per view or Chris Walker vs. Omar Leary, first to 10.

I can't front, Chris Walker was really bad.

Oh no. It is starting again.

I demand that we sign three MDAA every two years or we are doomed. If that happens I say FIRE JEB CAMBELL!!!

Chris Walker is about on par with what has been coming out of Juco.

I hate that this thread has turned into a bash Chris Walker thread, because he has actually given at lot to the program with his attitude and as a pracitce player, even after his senior year.

but...he was a flawed player that was not talented enough (and/or didnt have the grades) to sign at a major school out of highschool and became a role player when he made it to D-1. Thats bascially the definition of a juco player.

Wayman fan thank you for your compliments about my passion for OU basketball. I appreciate them alot. Like you this commit came out of left field for me too. My post was in response to the notion that Coach Capel hasn't done anything or won anything yet. How funny is this? The University of Oklahoma just gave this coach 1.5 million reasons why they think he has done alot. As far as how long someone has been on a message board. That doesn't imply how long you've been a fan of a team. I welcome anyone, who is reading this message board to join the best basketball board dedicated to OU basketball. It doesn't matter what dynasties you remember or how old you are. A SOONER FAN IS A SOONER FAN! JOIN THE BOARD! I hate to think about the time it took to come up with such terms as "Figurative finger pointing" and "Chastising". With more serious issues in our world today. This is very disturbing to read that someone is taking a message board this seriously. My prayers go out to you. As far as Coach Capel is concerned. What a job this young man has done. We are so lucky to have him. He has rebuilt this program back to national respectability the right way. He continues to accomplish things that we all can be proud of. He will also accomplish more. With that said. :boomer:sooner BABY!!!

Um, about 10 seconds?

I agree with virtually your entire post (except the suggestion that the brief time I spent composing my earlier post should have been devoted to negotiating peace in the Middle East or solving global warming). It's an exciting time for Sooner hoops and Coach Capel's done a terrific job so far.

It might be worth your while, though, to consider the reaction to my post suggesting that your posting style can be a bit overbearing and even bullying at times (that's what I meant by "figurative finger pointing" -- sorry if you were thrown): Several posters agreed. That suggests that your ongoing insistence that other posters live up to your personal standards of blind allegiance and hyperbole (and, yes -- sorry, but it's true -- chastising those fans who fall short) is found a bit off-putting by a number of people.

Now, you can react to that news by mocking my vocabulary (really? You're thrown by "chastising" and "figurative"?), or you could ask yourself if perhaps, based on the reaction you're getting from some other respected members of this community, it's not time to reel it in just a bit. Not the enthusiasm, mind you -- we're all enthusiastic about Sooner hoops, though you seem to have trouble accepting that -- but the attitude that it's your way or the highway. There are as many ways of following and supporting a team as there are fans, and demanding that posters sign loyalty oaths (yes, I'm exaggerating) and express only the sunniest of opinions gets old.

There you are -- I've been 100% frank with you. You're free to dismiss my critique out of hand, of course; that's your right. But it seems that at least a few other posters feel my earlier criticism was valid, so it might be worth taking under advisement.

Well said, skyvue.

I guess I owe Faithful an apology. I didn't realize by giving him genuine props, that so much hostility would result. It was clearly inadvertent on my part to cause any trouble, but since I did, please feel free to attack me and leave Faithful out of this. He didn't ask me to give him props.

I think some of you are taking this a bit too far.

And I think it's taking it too far to, to name just one example, portray posters who haven't toed the line one has drawn in the sand of wishing we could get Kelvin Sampson back.

FS dishes it out with regularity, WF, mocking and chastising other posters, and it's that which has inspired these posts. It's nothing you did.

Overbearing! Well that makes me wonder what yours is when a new poster comes on here that has something good to say about Coach Capel and you and your few posters feel like you need to down play what Coach Capel has done to defend coach ___________. Bud I really don't have enough time in the day to worry about you and two or three posters that think I'm this or that. There are plenty others, and I mean plenty who understand exactly what you and your few poster's do. It's not hard to see or witness. All someone has to do is say something they like that Coach Capel may be doing differently from coach _________. It's two second clock work before you and the few are on here down playing that. But I tell you what. Your spin that you have about me is not what this board is all about. My disagreements with vue and the few is not what this board is all about. It's about more than you and I bud. Wayman fan is a very sincere poster who complimented me. Thank you Wayman fan. You didn't do a thing wrong. You have every right in the world to post your opinion about my post just like vue and his few. Skyvue you and the few can just keep watching as the program goes to new heights and continues to excel. It's a new chapter in OU basketball. I hope you guys will give this man his props for his accomplishments because the program is in great shape and will continue to rise. By the way I invite you and the few to show up when these great things are happening. I would love to here your take on them. Don't go away. Come to the board and embrace the coach and his players. Hopefully we could just talk about Coach Capel and not keep talking about the past. BOOMER SOONER BABY!!!:clap

No it isn't. Of course he is doing things "differently." And nobody has a problem with that. I'm only speaking for myself here, but my problem is with all this talk of new heights being reached already. Capel hasn't done anything, outside of his great run on McDs AA's, that hasn't already been done at OU. In time might he accomplish things that haven't been done at OU? Absolutely, and I hope he does. But as far as wins/losses, those "things" are pretty much resigned to winning championships (NC and Big 12). That is it. Those are the only things this program is really lacking. I guess you could put consistent Elite 8/FF births in there too.

Point is, none of that has happened yet. We don't have a FF or NC under Capel. We don't even have a Big 12 Championship, or Big 12 Tourney Championship. We've won some recruiting battles, but tooting that horn too loudly stinks of Mack Brown before his MNC.

Give it time. We all want new heights to be reached, and championships to be aplenty. All of us.
