How many of you back up your words?

Eleven sheep and counting. LOL Don't be shy. Stand up and be counted. Get in line and get your checkbook out. Joseph Robert Castiglione, Uhm Uhm Uhm

In the age of media TV revenue is where the big bucks are.

If you watch OU on TV you contribute just the same as the old school outdated model of being a donor.

Donor = donation = gift

I'm a capitalist. College basketball is a business and the expenses should be based on real revenues, not gifts.

If people are required to make donations to subsidize the basketball program to get football tickets it does not help the basketball or football program. It just causes a bunch of empty seats.

Donations should be for worthy causes. Sports hardly meets that standard.

Mandatory donation = PSL. Personal Seat License.

These statements are so brutally out of touch with how colleges and college sports operate that a Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium-full of facepalms would be inadequate.

I'm not talking about "fandom", I'm talking about support.

Why does every Tom, ****, and Harry on a message board think hes entitled to an opinion when hes never done a damn thing for the program.

I specifically mentioned attendance first, for a good reason. If you attend a game, even buy the dogs and drinks, etc... youve supported the program.

I'm with you. It's annoying to me that people get on here and make these big statements about players or the coach when they dont go to the games. Obviously it's hard for people who don't live around here, but you have a lot more respect for the players and coaches when you see them week after week in person.

I went to most of the games during the Sampson era until his last year when I was no longer a student and was fed up with him. Then I started buying regular season tickets Capel's first year and went to almost every home game during his 5 years. I enjoyed every bit of it, except the last few games of the TMG/Gallon season. This team was one of my favorite because they had hard-working guys with good attitudes. They had a poor record because they had a lack of size and experience. But I hope I get to see them finish out their careers.

I think we all back our words!!!!!!If you take the time to post on this site.then i think you qualify for carring about OU Basketball!!Go Sooners!!!

If you care enough about the program to waste time during your day expressing concern on the internet about the state of the program during the worst back-to-back seasons in generations, you're ok in my book.

The people on this board care. They aren't the problem in the fanbase.

Thank you, Tony. If the OP is looking for someone he can use as a sad excuse for a basketball fan, he came to the wrong place. You'd have to look long and hard to find more dedicated, loyal fans than the regulars who frequent this board. This site is a product of dedication and sacrifice from someone (OUHoops) who put up his own money to get it started three years ago, and continues to do so every single month, without compensation or reward. The contribution from admins and mods who have given their time freely over the years cannot be measured in dollars and cents.

My point is, there are more ways to donate time and money than going to games, donating to the tip-in club or making big contributions to OU's treasure chest.

I'll shave my head if we hire Bruce Pearl and will also become a pretty good donor to the basketball program

Everyone is entitled to an opinion if they're a fan. Now if you want yours heard, (don't) buy tickets or donate...but that doesn't exclude the people who don't from expressing their opinion. Only attended one game this year, but I donate, so under the premise I'm a "good" fan who has a worthy opinion. As alluded earlier, if someone is willing to spend time on this sight and talk basketball (whether positive or negative) then they obviously care and get some sort of joy from watching the Sooners play. In my book that's all that matters.

Original post is way off base, reach higher bud.

I was pissed off when I made this post, not one of my better efforts. I still believe a good part of what I wrote but can admit that it was over the top.

I do agree that this board is mostly full of solid Sooner hoops fans, I apologize for offending those of you that fit that description.

This is why I mostly read and not write, I'm really not a good message board guy... I lack posting talent. :D

No hard feelings, Boomer Sooner.

No big deal, bro. Keep posting.

Anyone with a username denoting a move/shot that changed a program should post and post often. :)

Don't worry about it. I have been guilty of spouting off a few times myself, only to regret it later when I had time to cool down. I'll admit that you got under my skin a little, so if that was your goal, mission accomplished. :ez-laugh:

It takes a big man to admit he made a mistake and apologize. I've done that a few times, too. In any event, please don't stop posting. This board needs guys like you who stir things up and give us something to think about.

you mean we hafta throw down if we wanna root for OU?
