I really like him at the 3. Too bad he had to play 1 last year so much because he would be even better with a year of experience at the 3, but I'm looking forward.

I thought his shot release looked really good tonight. He appears to have been working at it since last year. We need his length out there on D as well.

I agree with you about the 1; he was forced into a position where he was not comfortable.

It would have been even better for Cousins if Buddy or Woodard would have given him a touch on the next 2 possesions after he had the 4 point play towards the end. He was 7-8 or so from the field and can't get a touch. We have to recognize who's shooting well and who's not (Buddy definitely was not).

Was Hield the 3? It appeared it was Cousins, but maybe I just figured Hield was the 2.

Regardless, I like Cousins game at either the 3 or 2 but not the 1. ;)

Yeah, Hield has been the 3 with Cousins at the 2 pretty much all year.
And yes, he seems much better suited to the 2 than 1. Playing significantly better, at least in the early going this year.

You guys are crazy with these #'s!!! Both the "2 and 3" are the same position. Both guards. Both "shooters" both have sets ran for them. Etc!

I think it is great that he played a lot of pg as a freshman. It made him a much better ball handler and likely gave him a greater understanding of what everyone is supposed to do in Kruger's System.

Man, if Isaiah could do this on a more consistent basis, it would really enhance our offense.. He has some very good skills, so hopefully as he continues to mature he can have many more games like this. Great job...

To set the record straight, Cousins wasn't really forced to play the one. That's where he wanted to be. He was a combo guard who played the point his senior year in high school to prepare him for the next level. It just didn't work out as well as he had hoped.

I agree about his shot release. What an improvement from what we saw last year! Truth is, Isaiah has improved in every phase of the game, from his positioning on defense to his mid and long range shot, to the confidence he's showing.

The move away from running the offense no doubt helped. But when a player makes the kind of strides we're seeing now, you can bet that he did the work in the off season to get there.

I agree the experience helped but he's more productive at the off-guard (or 2 or 3 or whatever you want to call it :D ).

I wasn't aware of this...I thought he was put there because he had experience at the PG position (from HS), due to the fact we had nobody else. Not because he chose to play that spot.

His experience was limited to his senior year in HS. As I recall, he was told he would get a chance to play the point, and he got it.

Sam Grooms was our starting PG last year. We also had Hornbeak, another combo guard who was a back up at the point as a senior in high school. I think that Cousins and Hornbeak's experience at the point is invaluable. With a true PG in Woodard as our starter now, we're in good shape at that position for the next three years or more. It also gives us three guards with good handles who are capable of breaking the press. Hopefully, that will prove to be true when we face off against MSU tonight.
