On a side note slamming a player because he plays for a rival is foolish. Just give the guy his dues and plainly state you don't like him because of his personality or because he signed for the wrong team.

Why is it so important to you aggies that fans of OU basketball get all gushy over your guy? My team is .500 against him. And I'm sure that they will show up to try him again. Maybe we will get lucky and he will be bored again this season and spend his time trying to slop in 3's

I do not care if you get gushy over him or not. That is your perogative. Just ignore the guy, but don't dis his skills. I could not stand Griffin, but I guarantee you I never questioned his ability.

I don't think anyone on this message board has said he wasn't a good player. You guys keep trying to build the case that someone has. What has been said is that he came into the conference as an over hyped flopper. And that he has received preferential treatment by the officials and gushed over by the announcers.

You guys need to take Travis Ford's comments to heart. He said, "we haven't accomplished anything yet."

I post here more than I do on any board because this board started out with true basketball lovers that might not like each others alma mater but at least were fair in basketball analysis. There were KU posters, KSUposters Iowa state posters, and OSU posters that added great insight. If you want a board to stroke your ego then fine ban me along with all other points of view.

But you seemingly couldn't even be bothered to read my posts before responding to them -- you mischaracterized them, in any case -- and it's beyond ironic that you accuse someone else of looking to have his fan ego stroked when you were here in the middle of your team's big nationally televised game calling out posters for their (perceived) failure to give Smart his due.

I can confirm that earlpearl is one of the good OSU posters. He has been on this board almost since its inception, and this is the first time in my memory that he has crossed the line by calling other posters names (a slip up I have already edited).

Now, to you personally, earlpearl. You should know by now that fans from other schools are fair game, to some extent. Posters from OSU have always been treated a lot better here than any OU fan who dared to step foot on an OSU board. OU fans have been banned on those boards for...well, just being an OU fan or for no reason at all. That has never been the case here, and you know it as well as I do.

You also know that no one on this board has said anything bad about Marcus Smart. On the contrary, most have acknowledged that he is an uniquely talented basketball player with a great future as a pro. The criticism has been centered around his antics on the floor, specifically his penchant for flopping like a fish out of water when someone even comes close to his personal space.

I have seen him initiate the contact and pull the opposing player over on top of him to get a call. And, who can blame him? He's good at it. Eventually, though, officials in the Big 12 will catch on and his reputation as a flopper will come back to haunt him. He definitely won't get away with it at the next level. Flopping in the NBA is a technical and a fine now. The rule change would be costly to a guy like Vlade Divac, who made a living out of flopping back in the day.
