I'm in the fire capel camp.

I am joining the camp.

To me, it comes down to the replacement.

If we are confident we can get BCG, Tubby, or Buzz, go get them.

I'm not sure I'm willing to take a flyer on someone like Evans.

BCG would be fine for me. Evans is intriguing, but I wish he had more (some?) D1 coaching experience. I'm also not sure I'd like his style of play. I assume it's a lot like Anderson at Mizzou.

I hope you guys get BCG so I can make some drunk jokes for once.

Sadly, though, nothing we say or do will matter much. The AD will make the call, and he doesn't give a rat's rear end how any of us feel.

If an AD makes calls on what a bunch of message board posters feel and say, he would be the STUPIDEST AD in the nation and he would not hold on to his job for very long. Thank you Joe C, for not paying attention to what is said. He knows what he's doing. I have full faith in him, whether he fires Capel or not.

BCG would put OU hoops back on the map, and give us a great Texas recruiter. he coaches defense, rebounding, etc with the best of em. He built A&M from trash and he can do the same at OU.

I would be thrilled with BCG, as long as he is not gonna be a problem off the court.

A&M had plenty of talent when he showed up. Gillispie's done some good things as a coach, but one thing he's never done is build a program. He's won with other people's players and other people have won with his (Turgeon), but he's never stayed in one place long enough to prove he's capable of sustaining success in one place.

Somewhere Joe C is saying thank you...

140-85 (62%)...I'd like to think OU could do better.

Winning with another guy's players doesn't prove he can recruit. Lots of coaches win right away then struggle (Pelphrey at Arkansas, for example).

Another guy winning with your players doesn't prove anything, either (A&M is a perfect example of that; Watkins sucked with players who did well under Gillispie).

He's obviously not a horrible coach, and he has shown at times that he can be a good recruiter. But he has never proven that he can sustain that success.

How is that his fault?

He did great at every stop and got to the mecca of college basketball...

Because he chose to step up the ladder and get to that point is not a knock against his coaching, it is a ringing endorsement! The Kentucky job is one that didnt fit him personally, not because he couldnt coach, but because of his personality and off the court stuff...

He is going to be coaching next year and will be back at a Major D1 school...he will have them in the tourney within his first 2 yrs, book it!

Right now, we need that type of turnaround...sustained success is a matter of opinion, because i believe he did that at A&M by building his recruits around the ones that were there...A&M has leveled off since he left instead of continuing that climb of momentum he had...

Not sure why Gillespie gets a pass for the disaster that he was at UK? He did horribly at quite possibly the best hoops school in the country.

As for Sadler, sure, let's hire someone who has made the tournament once in seven years.

I'm not against firing Capel, but not for Sadler or BCG.

That includes 6-24 in his first season at UTEP, so I wouldn't say its an accurate barometer...

Yeah I know. I'm just trying to find a way to lament him. I don't like the guy.
