Incoming transfer?

yep OULeopards reputation of inside info has been solid. Hope he comes back so we have continuity here, and our coaches can work with buddy on another part of his game. My hope is he works on driving and finishing at the rim. We need a guy to get into the paint and potentially get other bigs in foul trouble.

So basically if anyone picking between 20-30 tells him they are taking him then he's gone.

Yes. Ive heard the same intel and if he is told he is going to picked 1st rd then he will go.

If Buddy enters the 2015 NBA Draft, I'll be cheering for him to get drafted in the 1st round. However, I just don't see that happening. Heck, if he entered the 2014 Draft, he would not have gotten drafted at all. If he doesn't get a favorable report, who is to say 2016 won't be his year?

If he's going to be a 1st round pick, he probably should go and if he's not, he probably shouldn't. The problem is that a lot can happen between the deadline to declare and the draft. Hopefully he gets good advice and his performance in pre - draft camps keeps him in the first round, if he declares.

Haha it cracks me up that people think buddy has a chance to get drafted in the 1st round with the talent coming out this year. Buddy is a great COLLEGE player. But he's not a first rounder this year. Way too much to improve on. And he needs to buckle down. He will graduate soon and could get all that extra time to work on his game and give another year of tape for teams to watch. He will stay...if he goes he will be a mid 2nd round pick. Which would be a bad choice.

How many people on this board can you name you have said Buddy is a first round draft pick? I can't even think of one right now.

People just bash the big 12 POY on our team.., he's borderline or he wouldn't even consider it. We've been fortunate to have him on our team. If he goes I've enjoyed every game!

Smart kid and smart people around him.

I don't understand the bashing. I do, however, see some flaws that he could fix in the next year that could launch him into that top 20-25 range though. One thing you know you will always get with the kid is the best effort and energy every game, and that is something you can't teach

If he goes it's because he doesn't want to play college ball anymore. There will be no material difference in his draft position from this year to next.

I couldn't agree more. I will be thrilled if Buddy goes in the first round, not because I want to see him leave, but because I want what's best for him.

We couldn't ask for a better ambassador for OU basketball than Buddy Hield. He is and will always be one of my favorite Sooners!

Or he wants to begin getting paid now.

The earlier Buddy goes pro, the earlier he gets his non-rookie contract. I'm not sure he'll get a second contract in the NBA, but he'd be a chump to not believe in himself.

My personal opinion is that nobody teaches you to be an NBA player better than the NBA itself. Some people need college because they aren't mentally ready, but that's not the case with Buddy (and if it still is an issue, it won't be fixed by one more year). If Buddy doesn't go pro, it should be because he REALLY, REALLY wants another crack at it, and he believes in what we're doing. He's paid his dues to this university.

The real problem is that only about half 2nd round draft choices stick in the NBA and those that do don't get paid very much. They do not get a guaranteed contract and often get placed overseas or the developmental league.

I think Buddy is a great player who can definitely use another year at OU. It is not a knock on him. It is just a fact. He has progressed every year at OU and I believe he will be an even greater player next year.

I'm probably being selfish but for what Buddy and his class have done for OU basketball I just really hope that he gets to play out the season as a senior and most importantly have a Senior Day.

It's going to be a real emotional one and for good reason - Buddy represents OU bball on and off the court with such a passion and love that he deserves to get that reciprocated.

If not he's a true 6'11. Not one of these guys like Lattin or McNease that might measure in at 6'9 or 6'10 respectively... Manyang looks legit 6'11 or 7'.

Think he's a lot closer to 6 10 then 7 foot but not like it matters. He will be the biggest man on the court against most every team we face - that size is rare at the college level and you have an inherent advantage if you have a guy that size on your team around the rim who can actually play.

Maybe we ll even be able to play some zone with him in there, something Kruger hasn't even had the option of doing in his time here.

draft is mostly based on potential.

If scouts think another year in college will make buddy a 1st rounder, they will draft him in the first round this year. They believe they can improve his game during the offseason and his rookie year while he could be cheaper better than college can. And they are more often than not right.

if he is 30-40 this year and he can move up to 25 next year that makes a major difference ..

Either way from buddy's perspective you have to shoot for the guaranteed contract. That's key.

Maybe we should take this talk to a Buddy Hield thread?

Back to the topic... a poster on rivals said he heard an Indiana guard was looking at us. Anyone heard any other names? Possibly Cole going the med school route, regardless of Buddy's decision?
