They boo every call that doesn't go their way. Even the ones that are obviously correct.

Also, why do the TV people root against us. Those guys tonight were so obvious it was a joke. They challenged a number of calls in behalf of Iowa State.

Talk about a hostile environment.

Good win. Every one else had a walkover. Why are all of our games so close.

Don't go to cyclonefanatic. They are claiming Big 12 conspiracy to get another OU Kansas match-up

I can see why they might feel that way in the first half. But the officiating more than made up for it in the second half.

OU shot 9 FT's in the first half to ISU's 2. In the second half OU shot 16 to their 8. For the game there was a 25-10 difference. If it were the other way around, this board would have gone nuts, too. In addition, their best player was in foul trouble most of the game, and eventually fouled out.

I just don't see where the officiating "more than made up for it in the second half". JMHO.

There is no causal relationship between FT's attempted and officiating fairness.

Perhaps he should stop committing fouls.

I think we finished the first half with only 3 or 4 team fouls. At one point in the second half they had called 5 or 6 fouls on OU and only 2 or 3 on ISU. They were in the bonus much earlier than us. Most of our free throws in the second half came late in the game.

I just returned home a little bit ago. The Iowa State fans are not very good fans which surprised me. I always thought they were more like Oklahoma people but an older man KU fan sat beside me. He asked me if I had ever been to a game with a lot of ISU fans, which I have not. He said "they like to fight". Most of the ones around us were drunken than Cooter Brown.

They booed about everything even the blatantly obvious walking calls of which many were missed. I thought most of the fouls on both teams were good calls though they missed a push off on Spangler in the 2nd half when he had an "and 1". From my angle it looked like Spangler pushed off. The charge call which caused the technical was a great call. Buddy had position and was outside the curve.

I thought they missed about 20 walking calls though and plenty of moving screens going both ways were not called. It was fun and I'm glad we won.

Indeed. George(s) walks nearly every time he touches the ball.

True. Having officiated over 2000 games, I realize that.

On the other hand, I didn't see anything that "more than made up" for one-sided officiating in the second half. OU shot twice as many free throws. Their best player fouled out. They were aggressive taking it to the rack (Niang). I didn't see anything that made me think OU got the short end of the stick in the second half. Did you? If so, tell me where it was one-sided. They could have called a couple of fouls in the last 30 seconds and sent Buddy to the line. On the other hand, a couple of the fouls on Niang were "iffy".

I honestly thought the game was generally officiated fairly. I liked that it wasn't a whistle-fest because neither team is deep. I think a lot of the FT discrepancy in the 2nd half is because ISU was behind and had to take some chances, including fouling on semi-purpose.

I hope the next time OU fans complain about the officiating, you post and remind us there is no correlation between FT's attempted and officiating fairness. It works both ways.

FT's attempted seemed to be central in your post.

I'm saying there was nothing to make up for, at any point. I'm also saying including FT's attempted in a now rather confusing analysis of officiating is wrong.

+1. As a researcher, I hate hearing fallacies where people use FT's attempted to discern officiating fairness. Any team can play more or less physical, and that could be the cause of the calls, and thus FT attempts. That could have been ISU's strategy, considering they were practically playing a home game and expected to get more calls in their favor.

They were fouling late, had technical and flagrant foul, that made the discrepancy bigger than it actually was.
What I noticed with Niang is after his third foul, he seemed to lean, hold, push, and run into ppl more. Thought he was lucky to not pick up his fourth/fifth sooner.

The first half we were definitely favored by the officials. OVerall I think we were favored but it evened out some in the second half.

The 16-8 included some last minute fouls

General rule, when a fan's team shoots more free throws than the opponent, fans will legitimize the calls. When it's the other way around, there is some conspiracy or the refs are inept.

It's like clockwork.

Bottom line, Buddy was working ISU so they had to play physical, especially off ball. Refs decided not to allow that, rest is history. The charge Buddy took was 100% a charge, Miles Simon and Co were wrong.

Actually I had a really good conversation throughout most of the game with some ISU fans on one side of me. Yes.....they do boo alot...which is pretty entertaining to me.

On the other side of me were some older KU fans. But it was obvious that they had been drinking.....and they were giving the business to the ISU fans....which was also entertaining. And to be candid and even though they were rooting for OU, the KU fans were pretty obnoxious. It was certainly an interesting dynamic that I experienced last night.

They were wrong and they gnawed the topic down to the bone, going on about what a huge turnaround the play was. It was a huge turnaround in large part because of the pointless technical the ISU coach drew.

Absolutely. I've watched that play three times on the DVR and it was an easy call for the official. I still have no idea why the ISU coach got so worked up over that call. Guess he was taking his cue from those idiotic Iowa State fans.
