Three guys I am told are in driver's seat for jobs: Herb Sendek (Santa Clara), Kyle Smith (San Fran) and Steve Henson (UTSA).

Also an article in San Antonio newspaper

How much will he be missed? Replacement?

Yeah they are saying he's not the only one who could get one off our staff this year. Hard to hold onto guys who've helped you create such a great program.

I'd hate to lose Henson, but I'd be happy for him; he deserves the opportunity.

Not saying he is not looking for the next step, I certainly understand that! I think he would do himself a better service waiting at OU to see what Lon does first. Just saying OU is a better job than SFA. But I guess a head coaching job is better than an assistant job too? Who knows. Wish him the best!

No way that OU is a job for someone with no head coaching experience. Henson should prove himself as a HC if he wants the OU job.

So much this. OU is not an entry level job. If Steve Henson ever wants the OU job, this is a move he needs to make. Go somewhere and win, and when Lon hangs them up in 5 years or so you're on the shortlist to get this job.

I'd think he'd be more for the ksu job, after being a HC somewhere else...

Maybe...but Lon Kruger left his alma mater...for Florida (who wasn't on the map for basketball back then). Is KSU really a better job now? Huggins lasted one season when he left for his alma mater. Frank Martin used it as a stepping stone to...South Carolina. What is it about KSU that no one wants to stay there very long?

Have you ever been to Manhattan Ks? It and Lubbock are tough places to recruit to.

Kevin Kietzman the local KSU alum sportstalk show host blames Kruger for creating the idea you can't recruit to Manhattan. He said that's what happened when he left Manhattan for a billion other places. I'm sure KSU has an attraction to Henson but everyone knows the big dog is KU and they are hard enough to be in the same conference but same state is almost more than any coach would want with a state like Kansas that has very little high school talent.

I've never been to the "Little Apple", but I've been to Syracuse, NY several times, growing up only two hours away...can't imagine Manhattan, KS is much worse than that. Syracuse has one of the largest shopping malls in the country. It's also a great university for education. However, I can't think of a third good reason to want to live there. My nephew goes to college there...can't seem to prevent being burglarized time and again. Throw in the crappy weather and no other cities close by to visit, and I'm not sure what Jim Beoheim is saying to those recruits. Still, he obviously wins, so I think it's more than the "atmosphere" as to why no one wants to stay in Manhattan, KS very long.
