It's getting to the point where...

TJ is a captain. I assume that merits some kind of adulation. Do some of you ever watch or go to the games or just like to listen to your mouth run?

Heavens no.

We rely merely on the box scores for our opinions ... that way our rants aren't obfuscated by things such as facts or improved play.

Yes that describes me.

In fairness though, I have watched every televised/espn3 game this year. I'm about 800 miles away from Norman so, yeah, I'm not really able to go up there on a weekly basis.

What's up with being a captain at OU? Is it just something they grab out of a hat? TJ..Nick? Hell, why not make Hardrick and Honore captains as well. We can call the ship USS Arizona (Pearl Harbor).

I think in Neal's case, it's fair to say he was underevaluated and undervalued. In Blair, Newell, Thompson, and Ahmed's case, it is the total opposite. Now it looks like we're going down the same road with a buch of juco scrubs and east coast prep school washups.

Sheri Coal is the reason Neal is on the team. She talked Capel into taking him. Maybe she should coach our men's team?

Actually, he made the comment in late October, I think it was the 25th. He called Newell a "lockdown defender".

The only reason I stated to put Pledger at PG (if Blair was suspended) for a few games was so we could see Newell with extended minutes at the 2G spot. I guess they could play Franklin at the PG for a few games, but he's not really one of the 2 better players.

The technical definitely cost us the game. Down by 5, Blair misses an ill-advised 3 point shot, then goes bonehead and gets a T when KSU hadn't scored in multiple possessions. The crowd got into the game and KSU was fired up...game over. If he doesn't get the technical, I'm not totally convinced we would win, but we had them on the ropes. After the technical, game over.

Definitely cost us the game.

If we never led in the second half and your not even sure we win if the T isn't called, how could it have possibly cost us the game? Further, why do we want to see Newell at the 2? If he were a legitimate option there he would have earned minutes by now. As for the Capel quote, get over it, he made the comment before we played any games and he said it one time. It's not as if he has been praising Newell for his D in practice all season. Have you seriously seen Newell provide some amazing D in the minutes he has played so far? If not why do you keep harping on this quote? Oh yeah, because you don't support Capel and you enjoy being an ass. Rant over.

I should have rephrased it, the technical cost us any chance to win the game.

The season is over for us, so I'd like to see what Newell can do at the 2 because he's basically only played PG this year and we all know he's not very good in that role. I believe mentally his defense hasn't been as good when he plays the PG position because he's focusing on just getting the ball upcourt and setting the offense, which is out of his comfort zone.

I thought he played pretty good defense on Pullen last Saturday when he was guarding him. He can't be any worse than Pledger.

I harp on the quote by Capel because he said the kid was a "lockdown defender". Seems to me, if you truly believe that, you get the kid minutes early in the season so he's prepared to help you out when you need a defender in the game. If it's not true, then Capel shouldn't have said it.
