Jarion Henry tweet

An athletic 6'10"...really? I don't really know too much about him/this situation but if he had his grades together why not?

Because he really isn't a true big man. Rail thin. Likes to float outside. Might become a grade issue once on campus.

If he was a 4/5, no chance we wouldn't take him if he has the grades. But he is really more of a 3/4 that isn't going to be able to guard most 5's in the league.

Pretty sure this ship has sailed, but if he ends up at OU, I'll certainly cheer him on.

Yeah, me too. But only as a walk on. I would not want to see OU tie up a valuable scholarship on a recruit who will likely be an academic casualty.

As a walk on? Sure. We owe that much to Skeeter.

If he is willing to walk on, sure, we'd be crazy not to give him that chance. I agree about the scholarship. That is my biggest fear, we offer him one, and he keeps up from getting something we need in the 2015 class b/c he is wasting a scholarship.

I don't see him walking on though. Doesn't sound like he'd be getting many academic scholarships, so it may not be worth it to him. Guess we'll know here within a few months.

If Henry has ever taken an official visit to OU, he can not walk on. NCAA rules. Besides, why would he want to. He is an athletic 6'10", POY in his conference, and lots of programs would love to have a guy just like him.

Kruger has said in the past that he believed Henry to be an NBA talent. The staff is ticked off at him because he made promises to them about hitting school work benchmarks along the way. He didn't and wanted to make excuses instead of getting the job done.

Henry has been a huge flake in the past. But, that is old news. I don't know how he been doing over the last several months. If he has straightened himself up, it would be good news if he and the staff kissed and made up. It would be pretty hard, with the structure and help, that Kruger has in place, to mess up in school if he was just trying.

With Henry, we would have a better basketball team. But, that bridge may be burned.

Not sure this information is correct. Teams that are having problem with numbers and oversign will ask kids to grayshirt, and usually these kids have visited to commit in the first place. When Grayshirting they are essentially walking on the first year and promised a scholarship the next.

You could say you are grayshirting him, and he comes in and if he doens't keep his grades up, never wasted a scholarship on him?

Well, not sure this information is correct. Take the kid that just committed to OU as a recruited walk on. He never took an official visit to OU. I had two different staff members walk me through it just recently. It is their understanding and now mine that if they had brought the kid in on an official, their options were limited. He would be signed to a scholly or not. But, he could not walk on.

A grayshirt is enrolled in school on their own dime. They can access the weight room and gym and ect. But, they can not play and are not on the roster. However a players clock (five years to play four) starts when they first enroll in college or JC. Henry enrolled in JC 3 yrs. ago. He has two years eligibility left. It doesn't matter if he walks on or is on a scholarship or spends his time at the pool hall, he is out of eligibility in two years.

If he is having trouble getting eligible and has that kind of size and talent, why isn't he looking to play professionally in Europe? He needs some court time so scouts can see him. Some kids just aren't cut out to go to school.

I would love to see him at OU if he could somehow get eligible.

thanks gary that makes more sense.

well in this sense are options are limited. I'm not sure if it was an official or not, but i remember when we were really recruiting him and seeing him in pics with football players on campus a couple times, so he's obviously visited. Just depends if they were officials or not

again, i think it's all a moot point, cause we aren't going to see him playing for us

Someone should just send him a DM on Twitter, and ask him. Tell him a large group of OU fans are curious. Seems like the kind of kid that may spill the truth, whatever it is.

If he follows you that possible...

pretty sure the official visit rule is only during the current recruiting cycle ..

ie a kid visited in high school as a senior then has to go to juco ... the visit rule would no longer apply unless he takes an official during his last juco year

We've had this discussion before, but what position would he likely play at OU? Would have to be a finesse, stretch 4, right?

Not sure he is equipped to play the 3, where switching would put him on 1's and 2's. And he probably isn't physical enough to play the 5.

That isn't how it was originally explained to me. But, you could be right.

He's a combo forward. He'd be a stretch 4 for us. A poor man's Daryn Selvy?

Put my reporter hat back on for a day and emailed his junior college coach, Russell May. Here's what I've got:

Is Henry planning on signing with OU?: "He is uncommitted."

Is OU still actively recruiting him?: "I do not believe so."

A man of many words. So there you go. Regarding the "I don't believe so" maybe he's not 100 percent in the loop. Who knows with this kid. Maybe OU is waiting for him to qualify before moving forward. Or maybe I'm wasting my time.

That's the story for now.
