dealing with the last two basketball hirings. Ya, he's done great things. Got lucky with Stoops. But let's be honest. When it comes to hiring a basketball coach he is the last person I want heading my search. He hired Capel. It looked great with Blake Griffin leading the charge. He had great recruiting classes on paper. He just couldn't get good character guys. Now, 2 weeks have past and we haven't heard a thing. No rumors on a potential hire. No names seem to be surfacing that mean a damn thing to the search. Instead of doing priority number one of hiring a coach to get recruiting and sure up people leaving, he's at the women's game court side watching it. Yes, I understand he has to support the women. I watch their games too. I just think Sherri would understand that he has a job to do and that's make sure he has full staff and the athletic program moving forward in a positive manner as whole. I may be the only one thinking this, but my family has been season ticket holders for football and mens and women's basketball for years. They donate too. I speak for my family of 6. Joe C better get on it. There will be 6 less butts in the seats of an already sparse fan base if he doesn't.

I'm thinking that these prospective coaches have cell phones. Is he supposed to be stalking them at the dinner table, courtside, hot box them in an elevator? Talk about showing your hand before the river.

The idea that Joe would be less interested in hiring a replacement for Capel than the fans is laughable. You have no idea what he is or isn't doing. Just because he went to a women's bb game for a few hours doesn't mean he wasn't involved in the hiring process. Before he fired Capel people on all the boards were screaming for Capel to be gone. Now he is. Joe is a very good athletic director and he will make a hire as soon as possible.

Heard Joe is waiting for Kentucky to be eliminated before he closes the deal on Calipari...

1. "Joe C is losing a lot of respect" - from who?

2. "Got lucky with Stoops" - that's funny;

3. "Now, 2 weeks have past and we haven't heard a thing" - It's not his job to tell us anything;

4. "Instead of doing priority number one of hiring a coach to get recruiting and sure up people leaving, he's at the women's game court side watching it" - How do you know he isn't taking care of "priority one"? I don't see players leaving. And, he has a duty to support all Sooner programs, including attending the women's ball sweet 16 game;

5. "Joe C better get on it" - again, how do you know he isn't? A lot of assumptions on your part;

6. "There will be 6 less butts in the seats of an already sparse fan base if he doesn't" - don't let the door hit you on the way out.

It doesn't matter who the AD is or what kind of coach he is trying to hire, no rumors is a good thing. The last thing prospects want is to be asked about rumors.

Relax.

If Joe makes a lousy hire, then we can complain.

lol, no hes has to be at their doorstep waiting for them to come home.

Castiglione is going through the process, it's fine.

Maybe you should put more emphasis on getting married and having kids than worrying about OU's bball coaching prospects. Sounds like your priorities are out of whack...

Way to show your support... Your 6 butts and $1,000 wont be missed...
So he is a bad AD for supporting the girls and their bid for the elite 8?

If the coach he wants is still coaching then he cant just call them up and offer him a job when his current team is still playing...

just my thoughts

:facepalm

I love how certain fans complaint about a process they know nothing about. I wonder how they'd react to people telling them how to do their jobs. :vitale

Really? You live in Vegas. My family has been donating and attending games since 1976. I think I have every right to be pissed off. Arkansas got a coach a little over a week after they fired their coach. Are we that less of a program that we can't get on it and hire a coach just as quickly so that we can get recruiting? I don't think so. The amount of money and attention that is actually put into the basketball program resinates into butts in the seats. Therefore, there has been a lot of lack there of attention. And our butts hitting us on the way out is a lot of money. Six donor seats aren't cheap.

I get told how to do my job everyday. Tax payers tell the congress how they feel and crap rolls downhill. Being an officer in the Air Force, I don't get a lot of freedom on "how to do my job." Deal with.

Arkansas hired a who had lived and coached in Fayetteville for 15+ years. Your example is weak.

Well since I am married and trying to have kids, I think my priorities are well in tacked. I'm not in my mid-twenties telling everyone how crappy their place to live is because "it's not a big party area" or "just not in that demographic".

What an emo outburst. Poor showing in the last two hirings? How is that? He is being judged for the person he hasn't hired yet?

He took a risk hiring Jeff. It did not work out all that good. But it sure looked great after 3 years. Nevertheless, the AD is judged on the long-term performance of their hires as well as the short term. So one can chalk that up to him. But it is nothing short of insanity to blame him when no one has been hired yet.

Few appreciate that Joe has already made one risky decision in firing Jeff. If our new coach doesn't exceed what Jeff may someday do in a new job, Joe C will be blamed for being too hasty. When people look backwards at your decisions it is really hard to come out ahead.

6 donor seats. :ez-laugh: Get over yourself.

OU is my alma mater. I doubt you and your six donor seats care more about OU basketball than I do all the way here in Vegas. Difference is, I don't go flaunting my contributions to my alma mater on a message board. ;)
