Joe C is losing a lot of respect on his.....

The internet and message boards are generally good but they don't give us outsiders the right to the inside scoop. Some have a hard time living with that.

I suspect that a lot of OU insiders would like to know what is going on but there are a lot of things that need to stay confidential in any kind of search.

Joe C has done very well except for the Capel hire. Maybe the disconnect with the Duke grads is that they had it too easy with all of their hot players.

I doubt that Joe C loses much respect with people who count even if he doesn't hit a home run with the new coach.

I think there is probably a lot of truth in that statement.

who the **** is a "big name"?

what is wrong with you people anway? let's hire a good coach and quit worrying about your water cooler arguments.

Thank you, people get too concerned about the big splash.

Get a competent coach who's going to be able to recruit the area and build a program. Some of you are too big into the celebrity hire, this isn't TMZ.

I don't want a celebrity, I just want somebody who knows how to coach on the major college level.

Well since I am married and trying to have kids, I think my priorities are well in tacked. I'm not in my mid-twenties telling everyone how crappy their place to live is because "it's not a big party area" or "just not in that demographic".

lol, people asked for their opinions of Milwaukee vs. Norman, so I gave mine. Quit being so dramatic. Would give you my family ties to OU (degrees, # of donor seats, tenured professor) but that would be really weak.

Since Joe has passed on some good hires, he better have a good coach lined up or we will be screwed and his rep will take a major hit.

dealing with the last two basketball hirings. Ya, he's done great things. Got lucky with Stoops. But let's be honest. When it comes to hiring a basketball coach he is the last person I want heading my search. He hired Capel. It looked great with Blake Griffin leading the charge. He had great recruiting classes on paper. He just couldn't get good character guys. Now, 2 weeks have past and we haven't heard a thing. No rumors on a potential hire. No names seem to be surfacing that mean a damn thing to the search. Instead of doing priority number one of hiring a coach to get recruiting and sure up people leaving, he's at the women's game court side watching it. Yes, I understand he has to support the women. I watch their games too. I just think Sherri would understand that he has a job to do and that's make sure he has full staff and the athletic program moving forward in a positive manner as whole. I may be the only one thinking this, but my family has been season ticket holders for football and mens and women's basketball for years. They donate too. I speak for my family of 6. Joe C better get on it. There will be 6 less butts in the seats of an already sparse fan base if he doesn't.

1) I love how hiring Stoops was "lucky". Give me a break.

2) So what would you prefer Joe C. to do? Be like Mizzou and humiliate the university? Be hasty and make a bad decision instead of being methodical?

Would much rather the AD take his time using circumspection and make sure he's hiring the right guy. Which is what he is doing.

Taking your time for a hire is great and all when there aren't other schools out there hiring candidates away.

I am sorry but all this "he needs to take time and blah blah" commentary is shi-ite.

Give me good, plausible examples of coaches that have been "hired away" that OU should have gotten.

Besides, I'm willing to bet you would criticize whoever Joe C. had hired instead of said-program, since you seemingly think Pearl would be the only good hire.

Even though I think you are completely wrong, I'm interested to see why you think it is as you put it, "shi-ite".

1. I havent beat a drum for Pearl in some time
2. it doesn't matter if OU-potentials have been taken or not...the pool is finite and that is the point
3. he should have known who he wanted when he fired Capel

I really wish Joe would call Kelvin and ask him who/what type of coach he should hire....cause I don't think Joe C. has any fricking clue.

I don't see how Mizzou was humiliated. The AD identified the best prospect, wasted no time and made an offer to the coach he felt was the best replacement. Now he has moved on to their next choice.

Now we are reading tweets, in day 15 of the coaching search, from the media saying coach X has no interest in the University of Oklahoma coaching position.

The later seems worse to me.

Joe C has already humiliated the basketball program by hiring the 5th place coach in the CAA 5 years ago and acting like he found the next great coach.

Tweets are the most important element of this decision. Sheesh.
