Joe C sounded kinda pissed there at the end

Dark orange? Is that the seats or your crack pipe?

They may have faded to the point they appear as orange on TV, but they have always been red in person. I started attending basketball games in 1976 when it opened and up until I moved out of state in 2000, I was a season ticket holder a large portion of those years. I have probably been in the LNC 200 times at a minimum, and they never once appeared orange.

Go to a game in person, then get back to me.

Are they crimson? No.
When they remodeled the LNC in 2002, they put in crimson seats at the lower portion and so when compared to those it may make the old plastic seats appear orange, but they were never orange to start with.

Go to a game in person and then get back to you?
I've been to about 80 in the last 9 years or so.
And I'm certainly not the only person to point out the off-colored seats.

It's not as though games are held in Purcell. Honestly, if the students can't get their butts to LNC, we've got larger problems than basketball attendance.

An on-campus arena might make it convenient for some students, but it would make it less so for off-campus fans.

Is there no shuttle to LNC from the dorms and Greek houses? If not, there should be. It ought to come by ever fifteen minutes starting an hour before tip off and the same for an hour after the game.

And if there already is such a shuttle, I give up.

I totally agree!!!!!!!!!

If having an on-campus arena is the only criteria for being an OU basketball fan than anyone who believes that is not an OU fan, IMO!!! LNC is maybe a half mile from campus??? Really??? Same thing with those that won't attend games because they don't like LNC!!! Totally ridiculous!

I can think of a few reasons to pursue the possibility of building a new arena, appeasing a couple thousand students (probably less) is definitely not one. It's a terrible investment ($100mm+) for that reason and wouldn't get off the ground.

As for the student attendance in Blake's last years, it was very good. I know because I personally dealt/saw the numbers every time OU took the floor at the LNC. We were turning students away at the door many times around tip-off...or we only had a few tickets remaining. Do some kids just not show up though? Sure, that happens.

OU's problem is not an attendance issue, it's a program stability issue. The formula is there, when OU is good, fans will show. I'm not saying just throw your hands in the air and give up, because there can always be improvements in operations/marketing...however, those initiatives have far less impact than many of you realize.

For the love of God, we had Groupon promotions this year.

we're trying to help both by improving our home court atmosphere. if you can't understand that after we keep typing the same things literally hundreds of times then oh well.

Oh I understand...would just rather spend $10mm over a span of time improving coaching, etc. than dumping into a large arena. Would be interested to see an opinion/plan to give the LNC massive renovation, something factual, not presumed ideas thrown out by message board posters.

If UNM can do it with The Pit, there has to be some feasibility for the LNC. Location is not the main problem.

This last season was an absolute joke and probably has me on a "Coolm vs Joe C" type mindset. Here's to Kruger putting more back into seats all over the LNC. I know I'll be adding another ticket to my allotment.

Yeah, this past season was terrible. I think once Kruger starts racking up the W's (which he will) the students will be coming back.

according to the last feasibility study LNC was limited due to the water table problem. McCasland, otoh, isn't.

do you not understand how that doesn't matter? we're trying to do some things that are independent of W's and that will contribute on their own.

I understand some other effective measures can be taken to help increase attendance.

But ultimately, for OU fans, its the W's that put the fans in the seats. I think that was illuminated during the Capel administration.

and THAT'S what we're trying to change.

GRATS! I knew you'd get it.

Winning solves everything. In 1998, student attendance at football games was laughable, esp. after halftime. That quickly changed after Stoops took over. As for basketball, I remember waiting for hours to get in the front of the student section when we hosted Duke back in 1990 (the year after the Skeeter-Meter).

Although, Kelvin won consistently, he had alienated alot of the students and fans earlier on and the rabidness never quite recovered.

the seats are bright red; fix the color on your tv. Or, quit watching it on TV and go to the games so you can sit in the red seats.

They are clearly orange. Not faded either. They are orange. In person, on TV, doesn't matter. If you really think they look red in that pic than you are the one that is color blind.

Clearly, they are closer to red and always have been.

Maybe if people were actually in the seats we wouldn't have to argue what color they were...

Here is a picture of LNC seats, most of which are red, but not crimson:

Here is a picture of GIA, which has orange seats:

I understand why people don't like the fact that the seats aren't Crimson but to say they are orange is just wrong. (You do realize that color-blindness is more prevalent among men don't you? :D )

those seats in the GIA image look almost exactly like the orange seats in LNC. maybe its women that are color blind:D

I can see the "red" cushioned seats but the majority are orange or a shade of orange. i will concede to reddish orange but not orangish red
