Jonathan Lloyd, 2010 PG Bishop Gorman HS

I can't find anything on him other than he appears to be 5'9" 145.

If you dont have a rivals membership then that link doesn't tell you much. I can't find much on this kid either. But from first glance he seems to be a similar player to TJ Franklin, who was a solid PG in HS himself.

I wonder if Franklin will be back now that Warren is gone. We can use all the PG's we can get in practice.

I also wonder what Ryan Randolphs role will be this year.

I don't think TJ got offers from the likes of Florida or Michigan State.

ok, sorry about that...well to recap, just got some more offers recently including ours but doesn't know anything about them or OU...so he's got some thinking to do

This video is mostly of his opponent in this game, but there are some clips at the 1:54, 2:42, 2:47, 3:08, 3:28 and 4:10 mark. He's #24 in White.

i edited the link since you have to have a subscription for the other...hope this one works

Kid appears to be one heck of an athlete. He's a baller in two sports at Bishop Gorman:

He was also the 4-A state "Player of the year" in basketball. I love this quote!

Quick. Tough. Explosive. Fast.

Those are all words that could describe Bishop Gorman's Johnathan Loyd. But one fits better than all the others:

Winner.

PS. Tj Franklin is not good.. He's a really nice kid and smart but he is a walk on he will not play ever get that in your heads!

I think he is quite a bit more highly regarded than Franklin. I am not sure Franklin had any offers out of HS and Loyd appears to have offers from Florida, Michigan St, Northwestern, Virginia, and Creghton (among others). I think we should be jumping for joy if we can land this guy.

After watching that video, I approve of this offer. :jcapel

Sounds to me like OU is going to strike out on JUCO pgs if Capel's now sending out new offers. Hopefully I'm wrong and he just needs to add 2 pgs. A JUCO and a HS kid would be perfect.

I think Capel is simply pulling out all of the stops to make sure OU signs a point guard. I doubt if he will sign two. But I do believe he'll take the first quality PG who is ready to put his name on the dotted line.

This would be something if we ended up getting this kid. That would mean that we would have two point guards on our men and womens teams from Bishop Gorman Highschool. Aaryn Ellenberg will be coming to OU next year to play for the womens team. She was an MCDAA. BOOMER SOONER BABY!!!

I do not understand the mindset of only taking one pg. IMO TJ Taylor is not a great option at the point.

It's not a coaching mindset, greenbug. I'm sure Coach Capel would love to have more than one option at the point. It's just hard to convince two point guards to sign with the same school and compete for a starting position. That's why you typically see a true point guard on a team's roster, with a combo guard (see T. J. Taylor) as the back up.

I think OU would have signed a point guard in November if our coaches had known that TMG would bolt for the Siberia league after his first year. For example, I have a feeling Trevor Releford would have picked OU. But at 5' 10" on his best day, he didn't have the luxury of swinging to the two guard position to get playing time. And, since he didn't want to come off the bench behind TMG for three years before getting his shot as a starter, he chose the Tide.

Perfectly stated, Ada.

So is OU holding any scholarships for Jones, Ross, Carter, etc. or is it just first come, first served right now? OU needs a point and a big desperately so I'm assuming Aziz/Thompson have one guaranteed slot. I'd think Jones would be worth holding it for. Poland is gone so is Capel looking at other SGs?
