Jordan Shepherd reportedly has signed with OU

Bobby Maze. If you're counting guys who had a scholarship, whether they made it to campus or not, Chris Early. Juan Patillo. Kyle Cannon.

Maaaaan oh man, I log on to see if the Shepard visit turned in to anything and the default "Welcome to the Sooner Nation, Young Man" thread is a bicker party. On the other hand, what else is new.

To Jordan Shepard or anyone close to him who happens upon this board: Get ready for the ride of your life. You're catching the wave at the absolute right time.

From the looks of the highlights, the floor vision and raw physical ability of this kid are awfully promising. I think he'll be right at home in the go-go offense we evolved for our embarrassment of guard talent. I see a lot of ceiling there. Cool late get by Kruger. I trust the talent evaluation implicitly at this point.

you didnt catch the sarcasm...

I might have been confused with whom you were comparing to Blair. I thought you meant shepherd who does have elite springs. If you meant manek, I still don't understand the comparison but agree we might be able to do better with that scholarship.

I got confused on the comparisons.

Kruger has always ALWAYS coached a brand of basketball that is dependent on guard play. When he has a chance to sign a good guard, he does it and I can't think of a time it did not work out. I guess you could say Walker but we had to sign Walker when Hornbeak left. Maybe Strong is another one but also maybe Strong won't make it to campus? Maybe the coaches know something we don't?

Regardless, I'm not worried about the ratio of guards to forwards/centers because I trust Lon.

This thread was about a new recruit not all of the other non-sense.

I like the lift Shepherd has on his jump shots - big air under those tennis shoes. Jordan should be able to get his shot off under most circumstances.

Also, his ball handling looks a lot better than 2*. I think we have a sleeper.

Who are we, as fans, to question Lon on his recruiting and coaching strategies? He just took a program that was an after thought five years ago, to a final four. It was an amazing year and something we have only done twice in the last 28 years. This isn't a blue blood program that's ever going to get consistent top 10 recruiting classes, so you have to take a chance on late bloomers and coach thinks he found a gem.

I read somewhere that he already has a 38" vertical. He might be able to improve that some with the right kind of strength training. But even if he doesn't, your point about his lift in getting his shot off against most of the defenders he'll face is spot on.

I keep asking myself. What's not to like about this kid? He appears to have above average handles and court vision, and the ability to find open teammates with sound passing skills. He can score in a variety of ways, including a stroke I really like from distance.

I agree with you. We got a steal!

Kid looked good to me, very under control. Based on the competition I saw it looked like he could have just done what he wanted, but instead worked to keep other guys involved.
