Jordan Shepherd reportedly has signed with OU

Kruger takes us to a final four with his first recruiting class, and has had better recruiting classes each successive year and fans are still complaining.

There will be scholarships, kids will transfer. The staff knows this. This year will set the pecking order for the depth chart going forward, and some of the kids who see where they stand at the bottom will leave.

I trust Lon, this just seems like a reach given what we as fans currently know.
Which is usually far less than that of the staff.

Always happy to get a commit from whomever, and I look forward to seeing him play.

Signing manek is going to blow up in our face possibly.

I wasnt blown away with that highlight tape.. seemed like Carl blair more than Isaiah cousins imo

I'd be shocked if he plays next year.. strong surely has to be better

This kid has a 40 inch vertical. Carl Blair could barely dunk.

Manek needs to earn his scholarship this next season IMO. Unless he messes up off the court, Lon will honor his commitment in all likelihood regardless.

He doesn't have a 40 inch vertical. I think Lon honors his commitment but they kind of did this with Jacob Hammond & Austin Meyer, even though I don't think Meyer ever committed. However, Manek is much better than both of these guys.

Manek can play. He'll contribute, down the road.

I know I defend LK a lot... But I struggle with how so many guys question him and his tactics. Recruiting and coaching specifically...

Just led us to the final 4 and now we have more talent than we've had in a long time.

Yes this year will be a step back but when you have 3 seniors that started over 100 games together and they graduate.

If I had to guess, would be that Odomes transfers at some point.

Manek is killing it on the EYBL circuit.

He's averaging 15 PPG and 7.5 RPG against the best HS players in the world.

He dropped 16 and 9 against Mitchell Robinson.

He scored 20 against Team CIA Bounce, which is Andrew Wiggins former team.

Manek is going definitely to be a player.

Nobody is perfect when making an assessment of a recruit. We only need to look at Akolda Manyang’s recent newspaper headlines. When someone is 7-feet tall, the coaches may tend to alter their normal assessment process a bit.

As a general rule, it seems apparent that Coach Kruger and his staff are recruiting good basketball players that also have good academics and good character. Being a talented basketball player and a gym-rat gets the attention of this staff, but heavy consideration is given to the assessment of other areas, including how a young man will impact future GPA and APR scores for the team.

I love it that Jordan Shepherd signed his letter of intent during his official visit to OU. He was here with his family, and they signed on to be a part of the Sooner family. The OU coaches obviously liked him, and the young man really wants to be a Sooner. I am excited about this new recruit! I am excited about the incoming recruiting class! I am excited about the future of the program!

I might have been confused with whom you were comparing to Blair. I thought you meant shepherd who does have elite springs. If you meant manek, I still don't understand the comparison but agree we might be able to do better with that scholarship.

Capel led us to an Elite 8 and yet you can question him but you can't question Kruger?
We still finished 3rd in the big 12.

You're the guy who'd complain about the freckle on Kate Upton's toe.

I also saw that shepherd was scheduled to visit San Diego state next weekend who is coached by one of the best talent evaluators in the business, too. If Lon and fisher think he can play, then I won't question it.

Why do you continuously harp about the 3rd place finish in the Big 12 this past season? The team made the Final Four. That trumps everything during the regular season and conference tourney.

So were not trying to win a championship(s) just trying to make a final 4?

I completely forgot about the Big-12 championships and Final-4's that Capel accomplished while at OU. He did leave OU with that perfect NCAA Sanctioned 0-18 season back in 2009-10. One for the record books!

Great post. I agree 100%.

I'll remember that as much as I will remember the 44 point loss in the final 4.
