Josh Richardson - Edmond Santa Fe

I'm not saying ou should have offered josh. .... But I coached him in football. He is a GREAT kid. Would have been a heck of football player if he chose to go that route.

Lol at the idea of trading Buddy for a junior who averaged 9 points a game in the SEC...

I don't know where some of you people come from...

I hate wasting my time arguing with some of these people! Buddy or jelon for josh!! Lol

CJ will have one. At least another year. Depends on how fast he wants to start med school

I am all for honoring scholarships, but it is becoming more apparent that giving him a schollie was a questionable decision at best.

I remember being lambasted by the OUHoops "elite" for even asking if he was worthy of a scholarship.

Next season he will be worse than 2 of our walk-ons...

Maybe it was 100% intentional. Perhaps Kruger never expected him to contribute in minutes but wanted him to lead the guys by demonstrating how important school is. Maybe he thought it was worth a scholarship to have a scholarship player making outstanding grades setting an example for the other kids.

I only mentioned Cole because I think Coach's premise is false.

You mean like Tyler Neal? Wasn't he academic all big XII or something?

Why would we need two of those guys.

Which two would that be?

Do the players have to be on a basketball scholarship to count towards our APR? If so then I think that would be the reason.

LK will not pull a kids scholly that he promised him. I assure you of that.

This isnt Coach Ford or Coach Cal...

What if it was your kid... He had a full ride to Davidson, about to get on a plane, Coach Kruger calls and says "Please walk-on one year and the next year I promise to give you a scholly"

How would you like a coach pulling your kids scholarship?

Our coach is honest and his word means something...

Not asking him to pull a scholarship, all for the university honoring it for four years once the NLI has been signed.

Initially offering him a scholarships is the decisiion I am questioning.

Mankin and our preferred walk-on we just signed.

Wrong. Mankin and Cole play different positions. They use Mankin on the wing and Cole as a post. The new walkon is not projected to ever be of any help.

Mankin is a nice player. He could probably be inserted into the game in short spurts and not do anything to get you beat. However he has a low ceiling. He is not going to get better. That is typical of walkons. That is what makes them a walkon. It is the same with another walkon. Trey. He is a really nice guard. The best practice gym 3 pt. shooter. He will never play an important minute.

CJ looked like a HS kid on a college team last season. This year he looked like a typical freshman on a college team. He is getting better. He has a higher ceiling than the walkons. He will be better again next season. Going forward he has a chance to play important minutes before he is done. The walkons do not.

Last Tuesday CJ was scoring at will over Spangler and Bennett. He doesn't do that often and Spangler and Bennett heard about it. On his best days, CJ is tons better than the walkons.
